Ooh, great topic.
I grew up on late Fifties, Sixties, and early Seventies music. (I mean, really grew up on it -- I've been listening to it since I was about six or seven. My parents didn't even force it on me, lol. I actually "discovered" it myself ... )
The Beatles have always been my absolute favorite. I'm basically obsessed with them, but it's more like a subtle obsession. I'm not as extreme about it as I used to be, lol. Like, you won't hear me talking about them nonstop the way I used to, lol. But they are my number one (you should see my room). I've never had a favorite Beatle, either, actually; it kind of varies. Like, right now I'm really in love with Paul, lol.
My favorite decade is the Sixties. It's not even just the music that I love -- I'm also really into the fashion, the culture, the way of life, the way people thought, the literature, the movies, everything (and, as most of you know, the Vietnam War is of huge interest to me). But that's a different story.
We'd probably be here for days if I started naming off all of my favorite bands, lol. (But if you want the link to my MySpace, I have a pretty big list there.) However, I really love Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, Jimi Hendrix, Richie Havens, Arthur Lee and Love, The Doors, The Velvet Underground, The Who, Bob Dylan, and Donovan.
Among many others, of course, lol.
I like a lot of new music, too. I don't listen to rap at all, and rarely listen to pop, but I like rock and grunge. My brother's really turned me on to Nirvana, and there's some rock bands from today that I like a lot, too. :)

I'm more of a Beach Boys. That's what my mom and dad always listened to when I was little besides country. And I HATE country now.
But more then anything I'm into hardcore screamo stuff. My sister got me hooked. I like Family Force 5 and Every Time I Die. Who else? Umm..I like Breaking Benjamin. Anything rockish. I'm kind of scene, as we call it here in Illinois. Lol.

Hehe, so is my aunt (a Paul lover, I mean). We always joke about a certain picture of him that she likes in the Beatles Anthology book. He's got his shirt off in the pic, lol. And she was a teenager in the Sixties so she's got a bunch of Beatles records ... it's fabulous, I always listen to them; records are better than CDs, I think. They're so original.
But like I said, I don't have favorite Beatle, so I think they're all awesome ... I'm just on a Paul kick right now, lol. :D

I'm a true rocker and a huge 80's hair band fan.....favorite bands being Skid Row and Iron Maiden....but I enjoy almost all kinds of music. Currently in my car disc changer I have Duran Duran, Velvet Revolver, The Motels, Black Label Society and State of the Art (Tantric, Fuel, Nuno side project). At work we've been listening to this XM station who's claim is 'songs you first heard on am radio' and the station kicks butt! It reminds me of when I was growing up. So yeah, I can listen to just about anything and enjoy it. PS I'm a Paul or John girl.....how can you not just LOVE Paul?! And John's music later on was just incredible!

Ooh, I love XM. We have a bunch of XM stations on our television, because we've got DirecTV, which is satellite, and XM is satellite radio, so ... yeah. Lol.
I listen to the Sixties station the most, of course. I also listen to the Fifties and Forties station sometimes (I must admit, I love Forties music; my brother and I think it's fabulous), and the Seventies station on occasion. I like The Village, too: it's all folk music, even though they say it's country, lol. ^_^
(I have to say, XM has way too many country channels ... like, WAY too many ... )
Well, it's basically impossible not to love Paul, lol. You take one look at him, and melt. Plus, he's uber talented. And even now, he looks great, and is so enthusiastic for his age (I saw him in concert in '05! He was amazing!). He definitely does not look or act sixty-five! :D

I listen to all kinds of music and make CD mixes that jump from genre to genre and tend to not make much sense, lol. I guess I would say my favorite artists are Simon and Garfunkel, Van Morrison, Lyle Lovett, The Beatles, Queen, Barenaked Ladies, Jimmy Buffett, Chris Isaak, Natalie Merchant, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Loreena McKennitt, Eva Cassidy, Hem, John Mellencamp ... I should probably stop at some point, lol.
We listen to tons of 80's music at work and all us "thirtysomethings" love to reminisce about the good ol' days. The younger people look at us like we're nuts when some songs come on in the backroom and we're like, "What do you mean you've never heard The Homecoming Queen Has A Gun? And You're the Best Around is a classic!"
PS - My favorite Beatle was always George, too. And Queen Jane - love your icon ;D.

Simon and Garfunkel are fantastic. I forgot to add them to my ultra-shortened list of favorites, lol. They are really amazing, though.
Now I feel like I should just sit down and actually decide, once and for all, who my favorite Beatle is, lol. But I'm just so indecisive and all of them are so fab ... :)
And, Maxiekat -- thanks! ;D

Random question. Lol. Well, not really THAT random but anyway...
Have any of you guys heard of the band Garbage and/or listen to them?

Anything. No, seriously--anything. If you recommend it, then I'll probably listen to it and like it, if I don't already. It can be from over a hundred years ago and passed down or from right now or any time in between; it can be local or it can be from a different country; popular or not; just about any style. But if I really had to choose my favorite artists, then they would be Billy Joel (whom my parents have listened to since before I was born, and so I grew up with it), Simon and Garfunkel (same as before; they can do no wrong), Switchfoot, The Eagles, Guster, Enya, Gaelic Storm, Queen, and I'm spent. (And that was really hard to choose.)
But really... you would be hard-put to find something that I don't like.
Also, everything that has been mentioned so far is entirely awesome.
Cheers!

I've heard of them. I don't think I've actually heard them, though. Are they any good? What type of music are they? :)

I've heard Garbage, but not in a while.
EDIT: That actually sounds kind of funny. I was referring to the band that was mentioned in an earlier post, though.

Good topic! I completely skipped it. I've been really, really dense lately.
My favourite bands: Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Queen, Oasis, Third Eye Blind. I'm a huuuuuge fan of Floyd's video The Wall if anyone's ever seen it, and Nirvana is just a band I grew up with. I like some other music, too (but not recent music) like Beach Boys and the Beatles. The only hip-hop I listen to is Beastie Boys, I'm not going to lie.
When I was little, say two or three, my dad used to drive around and blast Guns and Roses full blast, so I like that kind of music, too.
And I've never heard of Garbage. Are they any good?
