AHH! That word (groovy) reminds me of my insane English teacher I had in middle school. He looked up girls' skirts. *shudders* AND, he made me diagram every sentence he came up with and made me looked better then everyone else so everyone hated me....

Man, this topic is just thriving!
And you all came up with the one topic I can babble on about for days...
Let's see, I have very odd tastes in music. I love classical music sometimes when I need to just let my mind blank out. I also love classic country and the older stuff they don't play on the radio so much anymore. That comes from growing up listening to John Barry, Johnny Cash, B.J. Thompson, George Straight and the like. New country sounds too much like pop. No more steel guitars and your roommate starts singing along to it while she's downloading the newest Hillary Duff shit. Just not for me.
I made the crossover to Rock a while ago and love Mathew Good, Three Days Grace, Seether, Billy Talent, Finger 11, and my boys - Metallica. Couldn't believe I was missing out all this new music. I never looked back. I do catch a few good new country songs, but they are so far and few between that it's not worth listening.
Anyways, I spent the last summer and the school year listening to the Classic Nooner and falling in love with Classic Rock. April Wine, Chilliwack, ACDC, Led Zeppelin, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, The Animals, Iron Butterfly, Van Halen, Diamond David Lee Roth and the Marshall Tucker Band's Take a Load off Annie - my favorite song of all time. It's like they say - you can't replace a classic. Anyways, my favorite part of the day was tuning in at 1:20 to play a name that tune game where lyrics were read and you had to name the song and artist. I have only been wrong once. It drives my roommate nuts that I won't phone in for the prizes.
You know, the other day I accused my dad of only liking safe old people music and he turned right around and said "You like more of it than I do." I don't think so. Safe old people music is stuff like Queen, The Police, Enya...easy listening *shivers*.
Anyways, before I get into my Van Halen rant, I'll stop!
See ya in the funny papers!!!

I listen to some Garbage. My best friend loves them so, I have about five songs by them. My favorite band is The Beatles. I grew up listening to them - my mom used to sing me their songs as lullabies - so hearing Paul's voice is very comforting to me. I'm a Paul gal myself.
I love Bright Eyes, too. I have the biggest crush on the lead singer, but that's not why I'm into them, lol. I just love their lyrics, they're so poetic. I've been really into Rufus Wainwright lately. That guys music is so...Well, /wow/. He's got a lovely voice in my opinion and does a /great/ cover of "Across the Universe".
Voltaire is another one of my favorites. I just love songs about necrophillia, cannibals, brain eating meteors, posers, being evil, and happy little boats!
For the sake of keeping this post short I also like Modest Mouse, My Chemical Romance, Beatallica, Green Day, and Akira The Don... Some Queen, a wee bit of Linkin Park, a little bit of Pink Floyd, and just a suggestion of A Perfect Circle... </end musical recipe>

I grew up on them, too, but my parents never sang me their songs in lullabies ... oh, if only, lol. I really kind of grew up on all Sixties music, but I've had an obsession/infatuation with the Beatles since ... gosh, probably since I was about six or so. Almost eleven years of Beatleness, lol. Oh, but I'm not complaining, of course ... :D

No more steel guitars and your roommate starts singing along to it while she's downloading the newest Hillary Duff shit. Just not for me. I believe it is "Hilary", Tens. And gasp, shock, how dare you besmirch the name of Ms. Duff. I love the internet. You can say *anything* with a straight face. Someone mentioned Metallica I think... has anyone ever heard of a group called Apocalyptica? Also, I've completely forgotten Lynyrd Skynyrd. I suck. They rock. Best driving music ever.

Ah Zevie...You make me laugh, it's a gift! Never stop!
Apocolyptica...sounds like something my kid brother would listen to around Pantera and Soulfly. I love Metallica, though. All except a few of their songs were spectacular. Skynyrd I could do without, but to each their own.

I like Van Morrison. I taught myself to play "Here Comes the Night" on my guitar, lol. Or at least the solo. I haven't played it in a while though so I'd probably butcher it now. =o
My aunt has Moondance on cassette tape, and she played it in her car once. I like that song, but I can't remember being too fond of the rest of the tape, lol. I think his earlier stuff was better, when he was with Them (the band, haha). :)

Into the Mystic is one of my favorite of his songs but the whole Moondance cd is really very good. It's mood music. I never really listened to him much before but this cd turned me on. Well, that song turned me on to listen to the cd, actually! And Crazy Love....great song!

Tupelo Honey is one of my favorite Van Morrison songs. And Brown Eyed Girl, and Here Comes the Night, and Philosopher's Stone, and Days Like This, and Someone Like You, and .... Ok, he's one of my favorites, period.

I love "Brown-Eyed Girl." Definitely a classic. I love the guitar work in that song, too. I'd like to learn how to play that ...
Hehe, that reminds me, there's an apartment complex around the corner from my grandpa's house and someone who lives there has a station wagon with the license plate "Tupelo Honey." Some letters were sacrificed, of course, because you can only have seven, but it was kinda neat. For some reason I always thought it was an Elvis song, though ... like, every time we'd drive past it, I'd see it, and I'd picture Elvis, lol. I have no idea why. o.O
