If the movie were remade, would you watch it?
I don't personally see why anyone would remake it, but it would be interesting to see what was done if someone did decide to.

I'd probably watch it ... but I'm sure it would be nothing like the original. And I probably wouldn't like it as much as the original, no matter how modern they'd try to make it.
It's kind of like The Blues Brothers and The Blues Brothers 2000. Doesn't matter how much humor or originality you add to the sequel -- it just never surpasses the original. And anybody from Chicago can attest to that. :p

I'd see it in theaters. But, like the rest of you, I wouldn't like it as much. All of the recent young actors aren't really talented. If they were to make one, they should get new actors, 'cause I wouldn't pay to see a movie staring Jesse McCarthy or whatever.
If they did, it'd be interesting to have the entire novel. Like, maybe they could have Sandy, Evie and Sylvia in a scene.
Either way, still wouldn't like it as much as original. The actors did a fantastic performance, and it would be hard to beat.

I'd watch it. But like everyone else has said, there is no way it would be as good as the original.
And what actors would they get to play everyone?

Let's see... Lindsay Lohan--Cherry Valance. Jesse McCarthy--Dallas Winston. I'm totally kidding. Like I said before, they'd need new actors in order to get my ticket.

I'd definitely watch it. It'd be really interesting to me to see it done again in someone else's vision. Best case scenario - another good movie to add to the collection, maybe some scenes that didn't make it into Coppola's and some movie kids get introduced to Susie's book. Worst case scenario - something to rip apart on the boards, lol. Quite honestly, if it's Outsiders, I will watch and probably enjoy. The TV series has taught me that. The Coppola movie had to grow on me. I really hated it the first time I saw it (oh god...please don't lynch me!). It was the cut version, so it was missing so many great scenes, you never really got to know who some of the characters were, Dally didn't look right (excuse me, Matt), and my teacher fast forwarded through the Rob Lowe shower scene. Not to mention, he had two lines in the cut version. Not fair. Where's the Soda love. The re-release fixed most of that (me aging a couple of years helped with the Matt acceptance, lol ) plus the soundtrack got better in my opinion (although still has some fault). I really love it now, but it obviously wasn't what was in my head when I read the book. The book's so well-loved on it's own; everyone has their view, so, I don't think any movie could be definitive. Though, most likely, Coppola's will still be the best, lol. You never know though, until it happens I agree about the actors too - I do think those young actors are talented, but I really wouldn't want them as the characters. I heart Dan Radcliffe, but no way could Harry Potter be Johnny.

I would definitely see it but it couldn't compare to the original. It's a classic.

I would totally watch it, I would just have to. I can't think of any actors that would be able to do the parts so well though.

I don't think there would be much hype for a new movie. I know there was some talk - rumored, fan or something along those lines - and someone suggested Ryan Phillipe as Pony. Now I have no idea who this is, but I wouldn't be fond of anyone replacing CT and that goes for the rest of the cast.
What would be interesting is a remake of the TV series with better writing and more S.E. involvement. I don't know about you guys, but I was too young to even know it was on the first time around and what I've seen could have been done better.
See ya in the funny papers!!!

I would watch a remake of the movie, just because it's The Outsiders. I don't know how much I would enjoy it - I couldn't honestly draw up a good opinion unless I saw it. But I don't think we have to worry about them ever remaking it. Francis Ford Coppola holds those rights, and I'd like to see someone pry them from him. It wouldn't happen. Lol.
But I agree, a remake of the TV series wouldn't go amiss. But, again, you have Francis to contend with. As unfortunate as it may be, though, there'd never be an big enough audience for the TV series to be attempted again. At least not in our day and age. Not unless they modern-ized it.

I would actually like to see a remake of the tv series, that could be really cool. Especially if they included *all* the Shepard siblings this time. Oh and especially if Tim was actually a hood this time round.
I think people would love the 60's setting, imagine all those awesome classic cars. They would totally have to have more drag racing scenes!

You could probably pick out a bunch of one-shots from ff.net, turn them into scripts and have yourself a tv show that's truer to the characters than the original. Or, (unless S.E. writes it herself) get one of the fic-ers to write the script. Lol, how many of y'all wrote a script recently?

Now THAT would be something worth watching! Mars, I'm just blown away right now after reading your last chapter. I could so visualize it....it COULD and SHOULD be a screenplay!
Great idea with having the one-shots as fuel for scripts. WHo do we talk to about this??!!
