I do if there's a question, or if I'm particularly touched by a comment, but mostly I don't.
Today, I got a review of 'Impressions' that made me want to PM the reviewer and ask if she'd actually ever read the book.

I'm horrible. I rarely do reply, but I think I will put in more of an effort for the future. I used to be the reply queen before this PM bit was introduced.
So if you never get a reply from me, it's not because I didn't read and enjoy your comments - it's because I was either too lazy or too...well, lazy.
See ya in the funny papers!!! Tens

A lot of times I get onto the review page and tackle as many as I can when I have time. Usually it's just a, "thanks, glad you liked the story", or "thanks for reviewing, sorry you didn't enjoy the story", but if there was a question or comment that I want to answer or expand on, they can get a little longer. Though I have to say, there are times when I get a review for a story that hasn't been updated for a while (uh...in other words, most of my stories ), and after reading the review I move on to something else and forget to go back and send a reply. I just sent one for Ten Years Later the other day that turned out to be over 3 pages in a Word document (that included her/his comments mixed in, so I could respond to it in sections). That doesn't happen too often, haha. Christine, that review made me smile. Yeah, it reminded me of the book, too, lol. Maybe she only read it once. She's evidently not quite as obsessed as the rest of us, but she will be... *evil laughter*

I used to never, ever, ever respond. I didn't even know it was an option, lol, as I am very slow. Then I got a response for one of my ridiculously long reviews and it opened up a bunch of new character ideas and got a real discussion going. (Yeah, mars, that was you. ) Now I respond as much as possible, partly because it's fun to discuss things (or clarify things) and partly because I am on break and between jobs, so I have nothing better to do.

It all depends on my mood and who reviews. All of my alerts get sent to Rock, who's email is on our account, so I don't ever actually see them until I happen to take a gander in that direction and go look (which I don't do very often as I haven't updated in anything in quite some time now). I usually end up PM'ing the person if it's an option, but like I said, it all depends. I used to be a lot better at it when ffn allowed us to put review responses in the next chapter/document, but when they stopped allowing for that, I kinda stopped doing it altogether.

I'm getting to the point where I only reply to the people who actually take the time to review. If they just say something like, "omgz, great chapter, plz update soon!!!111!!one!!eleventy!!11!!" or something thereabouts, then I don't bother. There's just no point then because when you go to reply you're just like, "Uh ... thank you?"
Plus sometimes I'm just too lazy to reply, lol.

If they actually commented on the story I try and reply (although a lot of those type reviews that I get are anon) but if there is nothing to say other than "thanks for reading" I don't see the point.

Usually I do reply to a review. I don't reply to reviews that say "Update soon!!!!111!" "Hahaha..." or something to that extent, simply because I don't know how to reply back. I could reply with "Thanks" but I'm afraid they'll think I'm being cold and not bothering with a good thank you, so I don't say anything, lol.
Sometimes I'll simply forget to reply back, especially if I've gotten the review months after an update.

No. I never reply to my reviews. No that I never will, only lots of people are just like "UPDATE SOON!!!!'or "OMG! WHAT"S GONNA HAPPEN???" or something like that. I'm guilty of giving those kinds of reviews.

I used to not, but now I'm trying to reply to every new one I get(at least, on the stories I still update...). I mean, people take the time to read and comment on my writing, I feel like I really should take the time to respond.

I reply to all my reviews if there's any content to reply to. The OMGZ! UpDaTe SoOn's are best left alone since they usually result in another PM with "suggestions" on how I can make my story more interesting with some good ol fashioned "Pony Bashing" or the Out Of The Blue Soc Attack. It's enough to teach me when to keep my fingers off the keyboard.

I've just started replying to all my reviews on my new story. I didn't on my old ones, but I love getting review replies from authors, so I figured, Why not? My replies are usually longer than the review, though. I have that problem - my fingers just keep typing! But maybe that's because I haven't actually recieved loads of reviews, so I can keep up ok

if the review isn't of the "zomg" variety, i'll reply and say something like "thank you for the review" and if they said anything else, i'll address it
for example, on my most recently posted outsider fic, i got a couple of reviews asking if i was going to post more and expound upon it...i replied and said no, it was a one-shot, but that i was going to do a couple of sequel type things to it

Don't you just love getting those Story Alerts for a one-shot? Those things have really given me a laugh on some pretty bad days.
