What are some of your favorite movies of all time?
I just watched The Painted Veil with Edward Norton and I fell in love with it. It has to be my favorite. Along with The Covenant, The Lost Boys, any movies with the Brat Pack, and any scary movies.

Hmm... The Lion King, Nightmare Before Christmas, Rumble Fish, the Batman series, Jerry Maguire, Pink Floyd's The Wall, Sleepy Hollow, Rocky I-V, Edward Sissorhands, The Outsiders: Complete Novel, Lord of the Rings trilogy... That's all I can think of for now. I'll probably add on. What kind of movies I do love, though, is horror movies from the 80's that are just hilarious. I always rent them and laugh at the bad acting and bad effects...hehe

Well, you all know about my Vietnam War ... um, obsession? Well, that sounds like the wrong word, let's just say interest, so ... needless to say, I love war movies.
My favorite is We Were Soldiers. I could go on forever about how fantastic it is and how much I love it but for the sake of time, I won't. My other favorites (war movies, that is) ... Full Metal Jacket, The Thin Red Line, Saving Private Ryan (or, as my brother jokingly refers to it, Saving Ryan's Privates), Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam (though that's more of a movie/documentary), Hamburger Hill, Platoon, and I'm sure there are a few others that I can't name off the top of my head right now.
I'll also watch just about any movie that takes place in the Sixties. Forrest Gump (not all of it takes place then, but a good portion of it does) and this other movie called 1969 are two examples of some of my favorites.
And, of course ... A Hard Day's Night and Help! Two of my all-time favorites. I like Yellow Submarine, too, but I didn't understand it the first time I watched it (granted, I was about ten, but still). I think I'd have to watch it again. I don't think Beatles Anthology or Beatles First U.S. Visit counts as movies, but they're some of my favorites too, lol.
Also, To Sir With Love and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? are two movies that I could never get sick of. :D
And I think I'm done here, lol. :)

Okay - I'll try to keep this under ... 50 titles. Just kidding. Here are some of my (many) favorites - Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark (can't wait for #4 next summer), Lord of the Rings, Serenity (Nathan Fillion is awesome), The Princess Bride, Gosford Park, Pride and Prejudice (2005 version), Bridget Jones's Diary, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Shakespeare in Love, Witness, LA Confidential, Three Kings, Chocolat, Poltergeist, Friday Night Lights, Four Brothers, The Karate Kid, and The Outsiders (of course).
And my absolute favorite "bad" horror movie is Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn. It's groovy, lol.

Ah, yet again no one shares my tastes...
My favorite movie of all time is called McLintock!. Basically a cattle baron and his dysfunctional family make it through Indian trials, stubborn Chinese Cooks, dumb settlers and one hell of a fourth of July celebration. It's hilarious.
Lets see... Muppets from Space, Orange County, The Warriors, The Birdcage, Kelly's Heroes, The Forsaken, The Terminator I & II, Frailty, Payback, and What About Bob?
So basically my movies have to be funny or they have to play with your mind. Always interesting...
And Maxiekat...Evil Dead II was awesome! I liked the one that came after that, too. Can't remember the name of it - as embarrassing as that is - but it was funny. Bruce Campbell is too much fun. Glad there is a fellow fan out there since I'm the only one around here. Maybe if I didn't laugh during scary movies other people would like them more, but hey.
See ya in the funny papers!!!

Lots of great movies mentioned so far...
I can never choose a favorite, but I really like Forrest Gump, Crash, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (I can't wait either, Maxiecat), MASH, Back to the Future, Somewhere in Time, How the West was Won, Pirates of the Caribbean, Legend of the Fall... There must be others... Oh, right, The Outsiders. Can't forget that. I can't think of any others at this time of night, hehe, but I do have a soft spot for Newsies.
Cheers!

fosterchild, when I was eight or nine, my dad rented that movie for my siblings and I... Well, even though they thought it was kind of funny, I was scared silly for weeks. That dead couple getting revenge on the guy who killed them... ...if we're even talking about the same movie

I love all the movies mentioned here, lol. I feel like a nerd or something. I own, well my family, owns over 400 movies or maybe a little less then 400. I'm not sure. But I know where every single one of them is in my house. Every single one! Lol. I'm a movie freak.
Tensleep- I LOVE the Terminator movies, but I hardly ever get to see them. Because surpriseingly we only own one, and that's the 3rd one. I don't like that one that much, either.

Lucky! I remember this one where a guy finds something that fell from space, then it gave him this disease. The last scene shows him in a bathtub with moss or something all over him. Gaah.

The one after it is Army of Darkness and it's hilarious. The version of it that I have has an alternate ending where Ash is supposed to drink some potion to sleep so many hundreds of years and wake up in present day. Well, Ash being Ash, he drinks too much and when he wakes up the world has been obliterated. So funny. Sam Raimi keeps saying he'd like to make a fourth Evil Dead movie. Judging by the last Spiderman, I'd say he needs a break from the stuff he's been doing lately, lol. Also, Bruce Campbell is terrific and I love to listen to his commentary on the Evil Dead DVDs. I also read his biography If Looks Could Kill. He has a really bizarre sense of humor.
