Des - I'm excited to hear that there's another biker chick in the Outsiders mix here.
And I'm sorry to hear of your family troubles - I wish you the best!
I work with the high school kids at my church, volunteering, and I have a really hard time with them sometimes. Junior high I can handle, no problem, but once 15 rolls around, I'm out and my favorite time is often when they head home!

Liz - Where did you find that quote from S.E.? I love the idea of Darry waterskiing - it's quite difficult, actually. I actually emailed her about something entirely different last night, and she was kind enough to not only answer my question, but to offer the information about skiing as well (she'd seen the confusion in this thread regarding snow in Oklahoma). I was thinking the same thing about Darry and water skiing. It puts a whole different image in your head. Liz

Thanks for the help, Susie! I'm thrown through a loop right now, but I love it too. Darry water skiing... You know, now that it's been clarified, I can see it much easier than Darry snow skiing. I always wondered where Darry would have learned how to ski (I live in ski-country and *I* can't ski worth ... well, worth anything) and yeah... I always had a hard time picturing it. But this makes so much more sense. It never even crossed my mind before.

Zika, that makes 3 biker chicks.....ok so I don't actually HAVE a bike but I'm still part biker (got the tats and the clothes! lol).....almost everyone else we know has a bike so we're definitely in the mix! Des, man, kudos to you for stepping up. That takes alot of courage and patience and love. I don't have kids, either so that takes even more courage. Also, posting Susie's answer does definitely change the line of thinking on Darry skiing. I can see him doing either one but i like the idea of him water-skiing. Cool!

I was riding a cycle before I even had a driver's license, so cars are a thing I know next to nothing about. ;D I've found that 15 is the cut off age for the best of the teen years. Damien has gotten into the Goth thing and is trying his best to "shock" me, but so far it's not working. He'd probably die if he knew I was getting so much of my writing material from him and his antics. All three of them would have a seizure if they knew I had even used some of their mishaps in Fan Fics. -grins wickedly- I see it as my way of getting back at them for even trying stuff like that in the first place.

That is awesome!! But what better way to get ideas than when you have ideas literally running around your house?!

Running is the operative word......
-rolls eyes-
Right now all three of them are playing a game of Death Tag.
It consists of running through the house like a maniac trying to scare each other to death by jumping out from behind things to tag the others.
Makes me glad I have my CD player turned up and the headphones on.

I would hope so!!! I don't have kids and don't really want them but I can imagine it must be a world of surprises and hell being responsible for 3 teen boys. My GOD! I rode a cycle once in Florida. My boyfriend at the time had a bike and it was our only form of transportation. That was good times. Nothing like riding.

And here I was, thinking my kids would stop doing that kind of stuff by the time they're 9 or 10. I'm beginning to realize that with boys, the fun never ends. So it is nice that they are spending time together, even if they are trying to, you know...kill each other ;D.

See, now I wish that I had teenage boys running around all the time for inspiration! haha.
Well, i echo foster in saying Kudos! And I'm adding a congrats because you'll probably look back and see some pretty awesome things happen, some unknown time down the road.
Beyond that, either turn up the CD player louder or join in on the Death Tag. Think of how much you could scare the lot of them if you randomly joined in!
Or you could always take off on the bike and run like hell!

I can't say I'm a biker chick, though I played a Dino Chick in a mock fashion show for camp one year. The theme of camp that year was Women Of The Past, and though most of the groups chose to be from the 80's, 70's, 60's, etc... my group chose to be cavewomen and it was SO much fun. They squeezed me into tight leather pants (that ironically belonged to the shop I now work at, lol) and a leopard print sheer top, that was tied into a knot in front... and my hair. Oh God, my hair was HUGE. We ratted my hair until it was as large as I've ever managed to get it. Used nearly an entire can of hair stray on it.
... Of course, it took me two hours to brush it all out. We couldn't take showers up there and I was up past midnight combing it out while everyone else had already fallen asleep. But it was a lot of fun, lol. I think I still have the Dino-on-a-stick somewhere that I used...
Funny how this went from Darry to biker chicks, lol.

Somehow I think Darry inspires us biker chicks.

Des, you make me smile. I love the humor you have about the whole situation. I grew up with boys, I know how they can be. Even at twenty they still play death tag and chicken and knife fight...and use your new CDs as coasters. I swear, they have death wishes.
That being said, it's a good thing Darry has the fear factor going on. They stay within the lines so they can stay together instead of running wild. Not that that always worked, but hey.

-laughing- Humour is the only thing that can get up in the mornings, Tens. Especially with three boys to drag out of bed and send off to school. And the fact that all three are into practical jokes doesn't make me want to touch anything before I've had my first cup of coffee. My fear factor runs all the time when they're out of my sight, but stifling them isn't going to make them behave, so I've instilled a fear of me to help it along.
