Ok, you all knew this was coming - Summer plans! Anyone going anywhere interesting? Getting out in the sun and meeting new people?
For our friends observing Winter in the southern hemisphere, got any good winter vacation plans? I always loved camping in December...
It's pretty boring here in the Rock, so I have to get a job (sticks out tongue at whoever came up with that plan.) So I will be working until August 20th when I have to move all my things into my new apartment, get some drinking in and heading off to another year of learning on the 4th of September. I'll be lucky to squeeze the rodeo in...meh, sucks to be me.
Anyways, pass along your summer plans!
See ya in the funny papers!!!

Lol, that sux guys. Working...ick. I'm one of those irresponsible temp job types, lol. Good luck, Tens, and all you other crazy workers. Toronto is usually a sauna in the summer, lol, although I'm in Ottawa for a music fest right now (so gorgeous - fantastic weather, and NO GARBAGE - the cleanest city ever, I swear). I'm heading out to Vancouver to visit the fam for the first week of July!!! Hope it warms up by then. Poor BC this year... just paying for the decades of gorgeous weather you've had before.

I already had my summer time adventures. And it wasn't even officially summer yet, but I went to Cali for two weeks and that was a BLAST. I can't wait to go back again. I could live there and be the happiest person on earth. Of course, I've also said that about New York, London, and Disneyland.
I am going to southern Utah for a week next month, for a round-about family trip/reunion. Nothing terribly exciting, although I'll finally get to see the famous Arches that I have never laid eyes on. And I've lived here for 20 years. Yes, I can hear you all now. I'm just a terrible Utahn, that's all.
But for the most part, my summer plans are to work off medical/car rental bills from my car accident back in November (which, btw, was NOT my fault, but the other insurance won't cough up a dime), and get that all out of my way before school this fall.
I'd like to take another trip this summer, but we'll see. I'm poor and have no money, though that never has stopped me before (TRUST me. Don't know that it's a good thing either.).
Zevie: I tried the whole Temp thing once. Couldn't do it. Too demanding for my tastes. Then again, I also came down with Gastronitis (major sp, I'm sure) and didn't feel like sharing my doctors note with them, and got fired Found my current job two months later and have happily worked there for the last almost-two years.

I'm with Zevie--the weather here has been GORGEOUS! Very hot and sunny, not too buggy either, if that makes sense when talking about the weather, lol. As for me, I'm going camping! Haha, it's tradition, every year in August, we go up North. Other than that, a pretty boring--but relaxing--summer.

Well, I don't really have anything huge planned, but I'm going to a Beatles tribute concert tonight. I'm really excited, because I've been a huge Beatles fan since I was like six or seven. It's not a concert exactly, though. My aunt and uncle used to live in Geneva, where the thing is, before they moved out east, and it's this thing called Swedish Days, and it's just this summer thing where they have food and drinks and entertainment and this tribute band (they're called Liverpool: The Ultimate Beatles Experience) is playing there. They've had other ones before, American English and British Export, who I've seen a million times already, so it'll be neat to see somebody new. :D
Oh, and on June 30th I'm going to the Naperville Rib Fest and we're seeing New Colony Six and the Grass Roots. New Colony Six is one of my favorite 60s Chicago bands and the Grass Roots are just this awesome 60s band but I have no idea if they're from Chicago or not. My aunt is a social worker at Hospice of Northeastern Illinois and she met one of the founding members of New Colony Six, Ray Graffia, because his mom was dying, and he told her about the Rib Fest and she said that her niece (me!) was a big fan and she told him we'd go. And we'll probably get to meet him! I'm so excited, I really can't wait. My aunt was a teenager in the 60s and she's got a bunch of records and if it hadn't been for my infatuation with 60s music and her owning one New Colony Six single, I probably never would have known who they were -- at least not without listening to my oldies channel, because they play them too.
Anyway, I guess that was a little too long, but they're big events to me. And otherwise we don't really have anything else planned. We'll probably go into the city sometime this summer and have another deck party like we did last year. Beyond that, I'm not sure what else we'll do. I wish my brother was still playing baseball, we always had fun going to those last summer.
Hope everyone else is having a fantastic summer so far. ^-^

I never really have summer plans. I'm hoping to get a job this year, though. (I know--what teenager in their right mind would *want* to work during their summer? But I've always been a bit odd like that. It's not like I want pocket money to spend--I don't even spend the money I have right now because, A) I don't want anything, really, and, B) I'm... parsimonious [i.e., cheap].)
I'm not too sure about it, though; it's supposedly through the mayor's office and for people from, I think, ages fourteen to eighteen. I might be able to work at a museum. I still have to look further into it...
Beyond that, my uncle, whom I have not seen in several years and my mum has not seen in twelve years (she's seriously missing her little brother right now, and he doesn't call, plus he's difficult to get a hold of), is coming up from Arizona with his girlfriend (which I don't understand... Perhaps he's simply attracted to women who screw him over multiple times and that's why he stays with them). They're going to visit her family in New York, and then... I don't know. Plans keep getting screwed up and changed, and I think, right now, they've settled at *us* driving to New York, somewhere upstate, for breakfast. Personally, I hardly know him at all, and I couldn't care less if I see him or not. But he's not being fair to my mum and this is all getting extremely frustrating.
But I am planning to get a lot of writing done, and reading. And a little bit of traveling. Not too far, though. Just Mystic, maybe, and definitely New York. If I'm lucky, Boston.
I guess I do have plans after all... and, yeah, you *really* needed to know all of that...
Ah, well.
Cheers!

I'm so jealous of all you having summer! I hate winter here, it doesn't get cold enough to snow (which would be awesome), it's just cold enough that I don't want to leave the house or the heater lol.
My man and I are not going away at all this year, we are saving up to go to Fiji next year - going to get married on the beach in tropical paradise!! Can't wait.

My summer is going to be mostly work with some random days off thrown in to try and get all my vacation in before November. For the next month, I'll be planning our Harry Potter midnight release party. After that, I'll be recovering from our Harry Potter midnight release party, lol.
In terms of actual plans that don't involve the names Harry or Potter, I don't really have any. I just spend any time off on catching up on reading and movies and visiting friends. There is an outdoor artshow that I try to go to every year in August that's a lot of fun. Oh, and my sister is pregnant and due in August, so I'll hopefully be visiting my new niece or nephew around that time.

Maxiekat... we sound like long lost soul sisters. Lol. If I had the money, my entire summer would be planned around every major Harry Potter event, from the huge signing in London, to the US tour she's doing, and all the premiers. *Sigh* Having no money bites.

Keira, I manage a Borders Express and I'm so excited about the book. My staff looked at me like I was nuts when I told them they all have to come in costume, lol. Apparently, I'm causing them all a ton of stress. I'm going to miss having a new HP book to look forward to every couple of years. It's the most fun I've ever had at work. Definitely try to go to a midnight party if you get a chance.
Oh, and I can't wait to read the book. I'm looking forward to it with a mixture of excitement and dread. I'm a little worried about the outcome, lol.

I actually might be going to Beatlefest in August! I asked my mom about it tonight; she said we probably could.
I'll probably be meeting two of my online friends there (don't worry, I know they're real, lol), Tory and Loren, so that'll be really neat. I'm so excited because I've never been to a Beatlefest before. And the band I saw tonight, Liverpool, is apparently going to be there. :D

I'll be freezing my butt off in a nice historic house with absolutely no insulation and terrible heating. Although ideally, we'll actually find a new place. Also, I'll be working, alot. I'm ass. manager at a book store and my boss is going to europe for a month or so. Which means, like maxiekat, I'll be planning a Harry Potter launch.

Wow, so many great plans. Marriage (big congrats, by the way!), Beatlesfest, Harry Potter....sounds like a good time all around!
I found a job, by the way. High River Hospital's Rehab Admin. Assistant. Fancy title for "She who does all the paperwork". So bye bye fun...I do get one hell of an office, though...
I might get drunk a couple times this summer! And there's cards for when that happens! I win when I'm drinking, go figure. Too bad we only play for pennies...Damn pennies not being worth more than pennies....
