I spend some time on another forum that is full of writers of all sorts - every genre, from beginners to published authors. One of the posters in the young adult section, which is my thing, just got a letter the other day from an agent who was so impressed with her manuscript, it looks like she will probably be taking on this author as a client. The really cool thing? This author is 16 years old. She's got an ebook right now at Cantarabooks, which is an online book publisher. I just wanted to share, as so many of us here are writers and a little inspiration is always a good thing. I'm very excited for her . Liz

That's awesome for her but I can't help being a little jealous, lol. I had to re-start my book ... and while I've finished the prologue and chapter one, I haven't even begun chapter two.
It's depressing, because ... I started it May of 2006 and was thirty-two chapters in by August. That's when the plot started going nowhere and now it's just completely different except for a few minor things.
Hopefully that girl will have more luck than I'm having, lol. :p
But thanks for sharing! That's really great for her. :)

Hey, you're all ahead of me. I'm 37 and just now looking for an agent . And, I started my first novel almost three years ago, and have finished two more and started two others while trying to polish that one up. But I figure, if I had tried doing it earlier, the stories just wouldn't have been there for me to tell. The agents will always be looking for good stories. But sometimes it takes more time, or a different time in life, to get the story right. My biggest roadblock is that my time now belongs to four other people besides myself, so it takes me FOREVER to finish writing anything, and then forever all over again to research an agent, write up a query, and send it out. I was just interrupted eight times writing this little post ;D. I'm not kidding. It'll happen, though. Eventually.

Writing is a wonderful thing because there is no age limit. You can be a young superstar, or you can be a wise elder, or you can be just your regular normal adult age, lol, and you can still produce a masterpiece. You're never too young, you're never too old.
That's great news about your writer friend, though, Liz!

Thats great news.
I've only got one original story thats actually complete. I like it because I'm sort of sentimentally attached to it, but I know its not that good. I've got another on the go, but at the rate I manage to write, it'll probably be years before its finished lol.
