Hello everyone! I used to be on this board a lot a few years ago, but then kind of got pulled away because I was pretty busy and didn't have time for it. But now I decided to come back:) Created a new account and all. I'm sure I won't recognize some users on here. I used to be here in 2007.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi. I do remember Liz and quite a few others on this board. So if you guys didnt change your user names, I'm sure I'll recognize you. My user name used to be outsidergirl. But I changed it:)
So just wanted to introduce myself I guess, again that is. I am probably one of the older users on here. I have been enjoying writing since I was in school, but I left it as my hobby. I wanted to try myself in something different so I went to Business School:) Yes, business school and was working for a few years in accounting and bookkeeping:) While keeping my writing and fanfic reading on the side.
But lately I've been feeling that I don't want to keep doing accounting and so I'm considering going to another field. Back in 2007 I read the story by Liz - 10 years later. I loved that story and I remember how in the story Ponyboy became a social worker and he was helping other kids, and adopted a boy that reminded him of Johnny. So now I'm actually thinking of going into social work, but I still have a lot of information that I need to find out about that profession before I make my desicion. But I just wanted to say Liz, if you are reading this, thank you for the inspiration:)
One other concern I have is that when I was working in bookkeeping and accounting I bearly had any time for writing or even reading. I'm sure if I do social work, that requires even more time. There is a lot of overtime if you have to go to someone's house and help them or go though the court system or what not. So, I'm afraid that as soon as I get into the field, I'll have to leave my hobby behind AGAIN! And I would hate to do that:( Are you guys all professional writers on here, or future professional writers or is this just a hobby for you as well? And if so how do you manage to have both a job in another field and still have the time for this? This was a very long post, especially since it's my first one in years:) But I was just sitting in my room and thinking about social work, and I remembered the story that Liz wrote back then, and I decided to post:)
