Filming a TV show

OK, this question isn't exactly Outsiders-related... well, it's not at all Outsiders-related, but I'm hoping that you guys won't mind because you love me

I was wondering if you guys knew of any good sites with information about filming a TV show, or if you have any information to share with me. I basically just want to know as much as possible, such as how long does it usually take to film a whole episode? Do you usually film episodes in sequence? How much time would actors have off between seasons? Enough time to act in something else, like a movie or on stage?

I'm just basically looking for as much information as possible, because my main character is an actress in a popular TV show, and I don't know very much about filming. OK, I know nothing about filming. Any help you guys could give me would be so appreciated!
