I just got home from Washington D.C. and automatically heard from my mother, "Did you know Patrick Swayze died?" I looked at her like she was crazy, then she added, "Your uncle said he did, but I don't believe it." So we got up and searched for a little while online (IMDb, Wikipedia, here, Yahoo! News, The Official Patrick Swayze fan site, ect.) and found...nothing.
Since I'm tired of the false rumors, I wanted to start this thread to keep us all updated (possibly along with site links) on his status, whether it be good or bad.
With that, does anyone have any concrete news about Patrick Swayze?

You know, I think there is very little concrete news on him because he is trying to keep it as private as possible - and I don't blame him, even if it drives all of us nuts not knowing.
The last news I heard was in December when he did an interview on his new show "The Beast" where he was claiming to be doing well and hadn't missed a single day of filming.
It would be great if we could get a solid update on him, though. The Enquirer at the store today claimed he was on his death bed, so he's probably doing fine if they're the only ones reporting it.
Anyways, I'll see what I can dig up.

But you also have to remember The Enquirer were the ones who first told us he had cancer, so SOME of their stories are true(to a point).
And yes, I know he wants to keep it as private as possible. I'm just curious of how one of my favorite actors is doing through his tough times.
Thanks, Tens.

That's really good! I flipped through those pictures and I have that old People's mag in my stash o' stuff.
And hey!, look, Tom Cruise said something about it. I was wondering when either he or C. Thomas Howell, or Emilio Estevez would come out and say something about it.
But the main thing is that he's doing great.

I am getting sick of the Enquirer. I swear, if I could swear off the supermarket, I would. Every time I go through the till, it's there with more BS.
You guessed it - more Enquirer news claiming he's lost a lot of weight and is on his last leg of his fight. They had a really sickly looking picture of Patrick to add to it. Not that I put any stock in them, seeing as how they're the only ones reporting it, but damn, they bring a person down and here is a good place to rant.
That being said, looking forward to a real status report soon.

God, I know what you mean. I saw the latest edition of the Enquirer at 7-11 and picked it up, frowning. It's not right how they say those things about a person, nonetheless a person in pain. I guess those people don't have any heart in their cold words/feelings.
Another bad thing is my friends (family mostly) who come up to me and ask "Is Patrick Swayze dead yet?" Something like that just pisses me off. No he's not dead. He won't be for a LONG time. Even if he passes, he won't truly be dead 'cause of all the people remembering him and all of his movies/tv shows still rolling. I'll never classify him as 'dead'. Never.
If he passes anytime soon, me and my friends are going to have a Patrick Swayze marathon to remember him. Anyone else going to do that?

I agree totally. It seems like anything that hurts someone else is what they report about. Honestly. I have half a mind to cash in some favors and have that ratty old rag taken off the shelves. But like you said, he'll live on.
Honestly, I don't know about a marathon. Maybe to Wong Foo and Next of Kin and that's be about it. I'd throw in Red Dawn, but Bill would be the one I'd be nuts about in that one and that wouldn't be right. Aside from that, I was never a big Patrick Swayze fan, as silly as that sounds, eh?
Anyways, I am boycotting the tills and going through the self-checkouts from now on. I'll probably be happier that way - there are no magazines!

once again I have more news for y'all take as you wish. The Enquirer has more news about Patrick though I'm not sure how much of it is true. I could only read the headline because I was at work but I'm sure it said something about 'Lung Removal surgery'. Then I was surfing my AOL and came up with this link. www.popeater.com/television/article/patrick-swayze-biography/472296?icidCheck it out and see what you think.

Well, now we all know that Superman isn't invincible. But it seems as if he is responding well and is doing good with the treatment. I hope he continues to progress and get well.
P.S. Stupid people keep asking me "Is Patrick Swayze dead yet." Grrr...

once again I'm bringing you an update. This time from the Globe instead of the Enquirer. It says that a friend of his says he's on death's door step and but is continuing to fight. All I can say is that until I hear it from Patrick himself or from his wife I'll believe he's fighting close but as far as I know he's said he's no where near dying.

Patrick Swayze, 56 in January told ABC about how he is coping with his pancreatic cancer. "I'm going through hell, and I've only seen the beginning of it," Swayze says in interview excerpts posted by ABC." Swayze, 56, also says that surviving five years is "wishful thinking," but that living two more years "seems likely, if you're going to believe the statistics." And he defines "winning" as "not giving up."
I got this from the Huliq News site. I'm going to bawl! Two more years!? That's it!?

I checked the Globe and the Enquirer the other day at Wal-Mart, neither said anything about him. Maybe to them, he's old news. Does that mean something? Maybe he's doing better, just on the fact that he isn't in the Enquirer or Globe. (Though Garth Brooks had a 'suicide scare' with a 'naked lady' in the Enquirer that I picked up. Doesn't that sound interesting? )

(Everything happens when I'm at camp! UGH!) Anyways... That's good. Though those Enquirer people are fibbing again. And it makes me wonder who the rep was, 'cause it said, Is Patrick Swayze's rep Chuck Norris? Awesome! Hahaha.
