Evie's name. I think it's really pretty, but I honestly have no idea how to pronounce it.
I know, I'm a total ditz, but I can't figure it out.
I guess there are two ways, really, and I'm sure it depends on which pronunciation you prefer. I'm sure most of you pronounce it EE-VEE, and that's how it's pronounced in the movie, but did you ever consider EV-EE? That's how I have pronounced it (okay, so maybe I *can*) since we read the book in eighth grade. It just sounds better to me. But it's been bothering me since I was fourteen years old, lol.
What do you guys think? :)

To me it's always been EE-VEE...just because that;s how I read it. I guess it dosen't really matter as long as you know which character your talking about.

That's true. I'm not even really sure why it bothers me so much. I mean, not bothers me ... just kind of confuses me, I guess. I've always been hung up on names, though.

I always read EE-VEE because it's a derivative of the name Eve, which was popular at that time. But that's just me.

Really? I always pictured it being short for Evelyn, which is probably why I pronounce it EV-EE, lol. :p

The Spanish pronounciation of Eve is not EEve but EHve I think. At least, I had a Brazillian friend name EHve. Probably Evie wasn't Brazillian though, lol, so there's a bit of useless info for y'all.
You know, I always thought of it as EEvEE derivative of Eve, but Evelyn was actually a much more common name. I can't change my opinion now, lol, but QJ, if you like EHvie better, you may as well keep it in your head.

I always read it as EE-Vee, but when somebody recently suggested that the name came from Evelyn, I thought, huh, I've been pronouncing it wrong all this time ;D. I didn't even realize anybody actually said her name in the movie. Is that during the new opening?

I always pronounced it EE-Vee too. It never occurred to me that it could be anything else, lol. But Evelyn changes that... I don't know, I still like EE-Vee better, but that sure does put a new spin on the idea. I wonder if anyone has a copy of the book on tape and can listen to where they mention her, and see what's said.

Something along the lines of "-we're taking Sandy and Evie to the game-" I always pronounced it EE-VEE too.

Haha, I always pronounce 'evie' as EE-VEE, but 'zevie' as ZEH-VEE. What a strange coincidence. How is 'zevie' supposed to be pronounced?

See, to me, EE-VEE just sounds ugly ... sorry to any EE-VEEs out there, lol. I just think EV-EE sounds prettier, and better.
But that's just me. :)
