I really don't like him at all re-reading it, and I havent' even gotten to the end yet! I totally couldn't get his actions at the end, he says himself that Mark would have stopped selling if he had asked. He just turned so fast on the people that he claimed to care about more than anything.

I can't remember that scene in the movie- I only have it on video and my VCR has died. Actually he does later regret turning Mark in doesn't he? I'll have to go and finish my re-read, I don't remember it all that well.

I haven't seen the movie, but in the book, even Bryon has trouble understanding what motivated him to turn Mark in, and he admittedly regrets it when he goes to see Mark. I love that scene. Bryon is horribly sorry for what he did, but knows right then that Mark will never forgive him.

That ending is such a major kick in the ass. I read it when I was a kid and I thought "well, Bryon did the right thing, sure 'nuff", and didn't think more on it. But I re-read it when I was older, and a bit less willing to be self-righteous about drug usage (while I don't ever do drugs I've long been of the opinion that it's none of my business what someone else wants to do to his or her own body), and I thought "geez, y'know, Mark probably WOULD have dropped it if Bryon asked him to."
... which just made the ending totally freaking depressing because here's these two guys, practically like brothers, and they got ripped apart forever.

I don't think "loose" is the word for her. But somthing like that. I think between her parents fighting and her brothers always in jail she doesn't know where to turn. one way many people don't see her is probably the fact of how insecure she may be. I can see her being with alot of guys, but not in a slezy way. probably starting out hoping to have some guy who understands her, but once sex gets involved things start to somewhat fall apart. But the problem is the book portrays her as being a slut. so you can't really think of how innocent her intentions may be. but then again as it is mentiond before, the story is told from Brians POV and he's looking down on her. But remember Brian has a Really BIG ego being the player he is. so when Angela dumped him, his ego was tottaly insulted. So we can only imagine how bad he is WANTS her to sound. Angela's not loose, just confuzed and lost. And Brian's being a jerk and can't handle getting dumped.

That's a really good point, that we're getting things from Brian's POV. All we really know is that Angela thought she was pregnant at some point, but she wasn't. If she was so attached to Bryon (evidenced by her behavior in TWT,TIN, even though her behavior included revenge), maybe she tended to get herself emotionally involved quickly, and went too far once. She did drink enough to pass out, and Bryon commented on how much she drank, so it's even possible she never had sex that time, but for whatever reason, believed she had. Welcome to the forum, xoxgreasergirlxox! Liz

-has spent hours tryign to figure out how to post, only to find she was logged out-
I recently started a story with Angela, and now reading this I'm having second thoughts of how I'm portraying her. Well that... stinks. -no bad language?- This information really helps, so thanks a lot you guys.

-has spent hours tryign to figure out how to post, only to find she was logged out- I recently started a story with Angela, and now reading this I'm having second thoughts of how I'm portraying her. Well that... stinks. I included that first part of the quote because it made me laugh . Glad you figured it out. Keep in mind that all of these musings about the characters are really just all different opinions that might help in taking a step back from the character to round out things that you might not have fleshed out in your head (for some reason that sounds really gross, sorry ;D). I can see Angela about a hundred different ways. As long as the reader is given some picture of what motivates her that ties in with what little information we have of her, I think she's a character that you can do almost anything with. I would say write her the way you see her, and as long as you've got some background in your head that comes across in your portrayal of her (even in little bits and subtle hints), anything goes. Good luck with the story! Liz

Thanks a lot for the advice. Reading all of these different opinions of her character -and all of the characters, in other topics and such- really had my mind doing back flips, and it felt like my brain was going to explode.

We know one thing about Angela: she probably doesn't have a bad reputation. Bryon says something about not loving Angela while dating her, but having her was more like a "pride thing".
I always thought Angela's pregnacy scare was her first time. I thought maybe she was a few days late and just completely panicked.
Also, I have to say I couldn't help but laugh when I saw all the Bryon hate. I've hated Bryon since the first time I've read TWTTIN. Hehe : )

Where did it say that Angela was a mother?

In Chapter 7, Angela implies that she thought she was pregnant, which was why she married the guy she is married to:
"I never cared about him anyway. I thought I was having - I mean, I thought I was, but I wasn't - and that's the only reason I married him, the louse."
