I wasn't sure where this went so into Lost and Found it goes! Anyroad... in the book I remember it described Bob as having a Beatles haircut (and it may have said Randy as well, I just forgot if they did or not) and so in the movie Leif didn't have that.
I don't even know why that's bugging me, it's just in the back of my mind: "why didn't they make him have a Beatles-cut"
So this isn't actually Bob-centric but I was wondering if there was anything in the book that you think about constantly and are annoyed they didn't include in the movie (or am I the only one with this problem?)

I know it can be difficult to match talent with the way a particular character's looks are supposed to be, so as for Leif's hair, I think it was more a matter of him having curly hair that wouldn't have looked right with a Beatles haircut. BUT, I don't think he fit the part in any other way, either, as far as looks and personality, so that kind of bugs me.
One of the reasons it bothers me is that from the book you get the impression that Bob is popular and handsome, but I don't see that at all in the movie. He came across as a shallow bad guy.
I can't think of anything else off the top of my head that really bothers me, but one of the differences that always takes me back to the book instead of the movie is the way Johnny reacts after stabbing Bob. I'll first say that I though Ralph Macchio gave a fantastic and realistic performance with that scene. In the book, though, Johnny was cool and calm the whole time, while Ponyboy got pretty freaked out.
In fact, throughout the movie, Johnny was more visibly vulnerable, maybe because they wanted viewers to see in him what Ponyboy saw. In the book, Ponyboy says that you would only know Johnny was scared if you knew him well. Otherwise he just looked tough. I think the difference between the movie Johnny and the book Johnny is what leads a lot of fanfic writers to turn Johnny into a quivering skittish bunny rabbit.

i personally picture a cillian murphy type of look when i picture bob. (a) cillian murphy is hot as hell, and (b) i think with cillian's acting, he comes across with a certain charisma that i think really suits bob.
