As you may know a new version of The Outsiders was released a few years ago called "The Outsiders : The Complete Novel".In the beginning of it C. Thomas Howell (Ponyboy) sounded like he had a cold.Did he fall sick during the shooting of the movie?

Without having watched The Completed Novel in a while, I wonder if what you're referring to doesn't have to do with him having been recently jumped and being roughed up. In the book, we know he's shaken and upset by the ordeal, and crying -- or trying not to -- can definitely affect a persons voice.
That might be grasping at straws, but there you have it, lol.

This is extremely late, but I heard Tommy had the flu after shooting the fountain scene.

I heard he had it while they shot it, actually, but I could be wrong.

I heard something about him having the flu, and it had something to do with the fountain, but now I don't remember if it was during, or after.
And that's me being completely useless and redundant, hahaha. Carry on.

Alright, I'm breaking out the interviews with S.E. Hinton again....
Q: "C. Thomas Howll played Ponyboy, the character you say is most like you."
A: "Yes, and he had the flu-bad-the night we were drowning him in the fountain. It was in the upper thirties."
Oh, Lord. Poor Tommy.
