For a fic would fourteen or thirteen be considered to extreme to get preggers?

personally, yeah, i think it's a little extreme. i know it happens irl, and physically it could be totally possible because puberty usually hits around 12 [this is not exact, but an average] but...it's just a little squirky to me. if you're dealing with teen pregnancy, i'd make the girl at least 15, preferably 16 or up.
also, if this is going to be set in the 60's, remember that teen pregnancy was not accepted like it is today.

Don't worry I know. You think everybody would respond the same way?

add a year to her, make her 15, and write it well and you should have no problems whatsoever well you could still have her be 14 and write it well and all, but i'm still in the persuasion that 14 is still a little too young to read about...i dunno, i'm weird, though, you aught to know that by now lmao

LOL! I'm not making her that young for shock value though, when I first came up with idea, she went from being Ponyboy's cousin to not related by any means.

I think it would depend on the situation. In the 60's, much like today (or even more so), I would think that getting pregnant that young was often a result of a lack of education about sex and pregnancy.
So if it makes sense in the context of the story and is written in a realistic way, there's no reason it wouldn't work. I think a lot of times, fanfics about somebody getting pregnant don't work because, first, the author doesn't know anything about pregnancy and doesn't bother to look into it, and second, it's treated in a very unrealistic way - she gets pregnant, everybody is happy, she takes the (cooing smiling) baby home, and it's more like she's playing house than trying to raise a baby as a young teenager with no support other than a bunch of teenage guys and her equally-ignorant girlfriends. Any real-life consequences are completely overlooked.
Good luck with the story!

But, what about if she keeps it a secret till she manages to go somewhere else to have the baby?
