Since sister stories are really popular in the fandom Mary-sue or not people tend to forget Two-bit is the only one who had actually had a sister even though she was only mentioned once I was wondering what are your thoughts on her ?Also what do you think her and Two-Bits relationship is like?

I always though of her as the young type always because the way Ponyboy said kid sister so I just always assumed that she maybe around 5 or a little older . If she was a teenager I always thought of Two-Bit as the laid back type of brother. He would of course stick up for and all but I don't think he would suffocate her with protectiveness

I also imagined her as quite young because of the way Ponyboy said "kid sister", but then Darry referred to both Soda and Pony as his kid brothers so I guess it's just an expression.
If I was going to actually write her though, I would make her a teenager of 16/17. I just wouldn't find a little kid interesting to write about. I can imagine them having a good relationship, depending on how young she is. If they are both teenagers they would have more in common (although I agree with Mars that they would butt heads more too) whereas if she was very young he would probably be more protective of her.

Well, it could be thought of as an expression but I think it means when you say kid brother or kid sister that they are your , um, full sibling, I guess you could say, and not your step or half sib.

I thought "kid brother/sister" just meant younger. Or, maybe, younger enough to be noticeable - like they end up running in slightly different circles because of what they're allowed to do. I usually imagine Two-Bit's sister as fifteen (or maybe sixteen or fourteen). I just like the idea of her as a teenager, lol. It ties into when Two-Bit's dad took off, too. If she were that much younger, then when the dad took off, I would have thought Two-Bit might end up having to take more responsibility for her, since their mom works so much to support them. He's pretty lax in the responsibility area, lol, so I get the feeling she was probably old enough to take care of herself the same way he was (not that they didn't help each other emotionally or anything, but you know what I mean). But, it could still go either way.

hmmm...Two-Bits sister....
There is only one Two-Bit sister story i thoroughly enjoy, but i havent searched too hard for these, either
Some writers think that because she is the only canon sister they can avoid Sue-ness completely and do w/e they want to her...My favorite example of this was in one story where their countless string of step-fathers/mother's boyfriends decided they were only going to abuse Two-Bit's mom and sister and just ignore Two-Bit...who later decides he is going to move in with the Curtis family leaving his sister to get abused...and then the sister decides to run away and move in with her brother and the Curtis' only to get raped by a bunch of Socs on the way. And of course the nest day she is all fine and dandy b/c her and her brother have miraculously made-up...and what next? You guessed it....she ends up hooking up with one of the guys. the end.
basically, a common thought is because Two-Bit's sister is the only actual one, Sue-ness can be avoided...and that all the extreme-sisterfic-haters/only-like-well-written-sisterfic authors (that wasnt supposed to be mean btw) will be complementary of their story b/c a canon sis is used and ignore all of their over-angsty characters...and because the writers want to hook up with a greaser.
as for my POV, I see Two-Bit and his sister having more of a "buddy" relationship than a close-knit Curtis brother bond. We know that their mother is around, so that could be why (she has a female to bond w/ and doesnt need to depend on her bro). And b/c Two-Bit himself is so easy-going and "lax in the responsibility area" (thanks zevie ;-] ) I could see him not being overbearing and ridiculously overprotective, letting his sister (I've also always assumed he was a teenager) do her own thing unless she asks for help/gets in trouble/is found in trouble (u get the idea) and then he would step in and play the big bad older brother role. So, friends/buddies most of the time (even though i dont doubt he'd love sister very much) and only a jerk-a$s/bad a$s older brother when he needed to be

In my mind, Two-Bits kid sister has just hit the teen years and Two-Bit is completely enjoying himself with that. He'd be the older brother to tease and get her mad at him just so she'll chase him through the house with a shoe. I can see him bringing up crushes, pointing out blemishes, commenting on her clothes just to get her attention. And of course, after they have their sibling moment, they'd probably settle in to watch TV or eat dinner like nothing happened. And of course, she'd dish it right back because she is his sister and knows how its done by then.
To make her a MS just kills the image I have in my head. I haven't read the story Hopelessly Devoted brought up, but I wouldn't have followed it. It just sounds like a backward relationship of siblings. Two-Bit may bum it around everywhere else but home, but I can't see him taking off and leaving his mother and sister to put up with that. He does carry a blade, he does know how to hold his own.
That, and does Mrs. Mathews sound like the kind of lady who would bring home just anybody after the mess she had with her husband? She works, shes independent and she has two children. I highly doubt she's going to fall on the first man in sight and she would probably kill him - with one of the cast iron frying pans I write her cooking with - if he ever touched one of her kids. I mean, she's a barmaid. I've been there and done that in a down town dive. You have to be tough or have a very short tempered brother hanging around if you plan to survive working there.
And I lost my train of thought.

Y'know, we should have a topic for Mrs. Matthews. She seems so cool, a tough single mother who'd do anything for her children. I love thinking of her as this indestructible woman, because as long as her son and daughter are ok, she is too.

I think she's probably a prepubescent, er, skank, for lack of better word. 11-12 trying to look and act 17-18, much to her mothers dismay. A bit wild and out of control, trying to fit in, but doesn't really know where she belongs. Two-Bit loves her, but is embarressed by her.
