I really wasn't sure where to put this XD
But doesn't it strike you as odd that in a lot of stories after [insert character here] gets jumped/raped* the gang usually finds them immediately, takes them home and knows EXACTLY what to do?
Like say...
I remember reading one where a female OC got attacked and they brought her back then Dallas happened to find out she was bleeding internally, and knew what to do for it.
Well I know some things are common knowledge, like what you do for cuts and everything, but don't you think at some point, rather than attempting to set a broken bone (I read a fic where someone did that as well...) they take them to the hospita?
Also, the fact that a lot of authors don't bother describing anything about the healing process, they just jump right into the whole 'oh, and a few days later they were fine!' thing, despite the fact that if they broke a bone then it would take a LOT longer than a few days to heal.
Anyroad, that's my rant for today. XD
*usually only applies to female OCs
EDIT: ... you know... this seemed to make a lot more sense when I wrote this...
it seemed longer, too.

i agree with you there Maddie. All I have to add to that is I know Dally may know a bit more than the rest because he does ride in rodeos often so maybe he's got some kinda of knowledge from that.
Well that and maybe Darry took some kind of First aid class or something but sometimes it does seem a little to suspicious how they never go to the hospital .
Minus of course my fic "In and Out" where they always seem to be at the hospital except as of late.
P.S. I do think I've read the one where Dally figures out about internal bleeding.

But doesn't it strike you as odd that in a lot of stories after [insert character here] gets jumped/raped* the gang usually finds them immediately, takes them home and knows EXACTLY what to do? Yes, it does. They also tend to drag a lot of strangers (generally females) into their living room, the gang is always there as a whole, and at least one of them is thinking about how hot the girl is. What I find even odder is that the stranger they've taken home with them isn't at all startled that these seven guys have shown up and are being so open and caring. I can't imagine getting attacked by a bunch of guys I don't know (which is usually what happens to the character), and then being comfortable marching off with another group of guys I don't know because they invited me over. Or waking up on their couch with all of them hovering over me. We even know from the book that the guys get medical attention when needed - by the time Ponyboy gets home on the night of the rumble, after Johnny dies, Two-Bit has stitches in his face and in his hand. It's really just a convenient way for the author to get her character into the hands of the gang, where they can care for her, win her over, and be won over by her.

I might just pee my pants if I woke up in a room of greasers I didn't know, after being brutally attacked... or even if I didn't remember what happened and still woke up there. I happen to LOVE our greasers, but as a whole, I think I'd rather stick as far away as I could. That may be just me, though.
And yet, on the other hand, it's oddly intriguing. Wrong, but intriguing, lol. I can't blame authors who try and work it in.
I tend to disagree with a lot of people, even if I want to try and make up excuses for home-remedies and the like. Darry MAY have taken some type of sports medicine class in high school, but other than that, I'm pretty sure their knowledge is slim. They've always had adults in their life up until the point just before the book began, and insurance or not, I'm fairly certain Mrs. Curtis... or even Mrs. Mathews for that matter... would NOT reset someones bones or try and do their own stitches, or do anything other than fix rather minor injuries on their own.

Ahh definitely an annoyance.
Apparently since Dallas is from New York he can set bones, stitch gashes, rearrange your internal organs into the appropriate fashion, and write prescriptions for pain medication so strong you'd need one.
What really disturbed me was one fic where a girl needed stitches, so Dally got a sewing kit and actually cared enough to ask what colour the girl wanted. Nearly made me nausious. "Oh honey bunch, you're beautiful but we really need to sew up that iddy biddy gash on your head so deep your brains are flowing out all over the Curtis's couch. What colour do you want, pumpkin? Pink to match the brain matter?" "I'm tough, I don't need stitches!" "Pink it is!"

Man, I'm cracking up. "Pink it is."... sounds like something my twin would say, but he actually took a mountain survival class and knows how to do neat, even stitches.
This is one aspect of the fan fiction legacy I hate. Mainly any girl just ending up on their couch without reason. Honestly, I grew up with boys. I would be flipping out if a group of strangers brought me home and proceeded to take care of me with no ulterior motives.
Then the girls they pick up off the street always stay. Where are these girls' families? Does no one miss them? The answer is abusive ____ who they ran away from in the first place.
*shakes head* Seems a little strange to me. Too over dramatic.
