Huh. You know, I have the same problem, Mars. I always think that I'm going to make him into something he isn't. so I don't write him much, if at all.
So I'd like to know who Soda is, too. Interesting topic.
See ya in the funny papers!!!

It's funny, I think I have an easier time writing Sodapop as an adult looking back on when he was a kid. I can almost see his personality funneling into a more controlled and mature adult, but with the same lighthearted look at life and dedication to family that we get glimpses of in the book. Maybe it's because I know somebody who I could picture as Soda (I didn't know him until we were in grad school in our 20's). Backtracking from how I picture him as an adult combined with the way he's portrayed in the book, I would characterize him as: - doesn't sweat the little details, like crumbs on the floor or somebody being late for meeting him - forgiving of his friends' faults - has a lot of excess energy that he expends in ways that, to him at least, are innocent (fighting with people who deserve it, dancing, drag racing, doing goofy things because he knows he's good at getting away with things); in other words, he's not malicious. - personable, but not just for his own benefit (likes people in general) - loyal to his friends and family - when pushed to anger, doesn't hold back - bounces back to being happy fairly quickly (as in, doesn't hold grudges or drag things out) I can actually imagine him as a real person, but for some reason have trouble getting into his head and making him respond appropriately within a story. He's just somebody I need to work harder on as a 16-year-old, but so far I haven't put enough thought into becoming him to be able to pull it off. Like I said, though, I feel like I can write him okay as an adult. Go figure . Liz

Soda...I know Soda. For the most part. Soda is stu'd in a lot of fics. He handsome, like movie-star handsome, he attracts girls like flys, he loves his brothers, he's loyal to his friends, he's loud and funny, which is a good Gary Stu character. Most people forget the part of him that likes fights and drag races. Hope I helped.
