I like the same ones you said. Not that I have either of them...I wish I did though.
I am very excited also for the 40th Anniversary edition! When is that one set to come out?

I had no idea there were so many!
I really like the Gollancz 1970 one. And I agree with the 60's and 70's book covers being ugly...my sister has an interesting collection, lol.

I knew there were several covers...but before this I didn't know there were that many!
I seriously need to collect more Outsiders stuff.

Me too! I seriously don't have anything but the movie (not even Complete Novel) and the book.

Klett December 2001
But I don't have it. I have one that has book cover you don't have on there. It's really new. It's ok but not my favorite.

1993 Laurel Leaf May. It's got my Dally on it, lol (the way I picture him, I mean). The first one I owned, so sentimental as well.

What is your favourite Outsiders cover? (If you want to see them - marsonfire.livejournal.com/19545.html#cutid1 ) My personal fave is he Dell Laurel Leaf 1982 edition - I know it was sold up to 1990 at least. It's the one with the art rendering of the movie characters. It was the first one I owned, too, so it has sentimental value. I also like the mBooks UK one - it's a hardcover with the movie poster on the front. The first cover is ugly, but it seems like every book from the '60s and '70s was saddled with a horrible cover lol. I have a hardcover "That Was Then..." that I think is the first cover - it's BRIGHT yellow with different coloured text in the title. Not pretty lol. I can't wait to get the 40th Anniversary one! I collect the books with different covers (and to be honest....I'll buy any Outsiders book from a used bookstore, even if I have the cover lol). The movie characters one is my favorite and my frist copy, too. I remember that awful yellow TWT,TIN cover from my school library! Yuck!

My first was the movie cover and I recently found a replacement copy. I love that cover. I also have the 1968 red one and always thought it was really ugly. I also have the new Penguin edition with Pony running in front of the Mustang. I think that's my favorite of the newer covers. The 40th anniversary edition comes out in September according to Amazon (I already have it from a trade show I went to). It recreates the original cover and looks really cool. Mars - have you ever been to Library Thing? It's a really neat (and addictive) site that you can catalogue your books on. Anyway, they have a bunch of covers and ISBNs and I think there are one or two that you don't have. www.librarything.com/work/22993

I got a paid account but I keep forgetting that I have it so I haven't added any books in forever. I just checked - I have over 700 posted, but that really only scratches the surface. My list is under Maxiekat if you want to check it out. It's mesmerizing to just look at all those covers lined up - all nice and organized, lol.

Okay, perhaps I'm clueless, but that site just doesn't like me. No matter what I click, and no matter how many things I read that attempt to coerce me into signing up, I just don't see any way to sign up. There's a log-in page, but no sign-up page--or at least not any visible link to one. It's... frustrating.
If anybody could kindly point me in the right direction, I would be much obliged, thanks.

Thanks, Mars! It worked.
This may be difficult. My books are everywhere, lol.

I have books literally everywhere. It's actually embarrassing. I had Verizon in to install fios cable and we had to keep moving stacks from one side of the room to another so that they could snake the cable through my apartment under the carpet. Add to that the 6 bookcases I have that are overflowing and you can safely say that I have too many books ... not that I'd ever part with any of them, lol.

Every so often, the library book sale rolls around, and I have to painstakingly decide which books I just don't have room for and need to part with. It's unbelievably depressing.
I always wanted my own library--just a nice little room to store all of my books in and steal away to so that I could read in peace.

Oh good, we're all nuts! lol I have books for years that I haven't even read yet. I just love owning books. Especially hardcovers. I think they're just so nice to own and you always have something to fall back on if you need something to read. I'm going to check out Library Thing when I have more time to. Thanks for the info on that!
