Well when I finished any story not necessarily on fan fiction .net I feel like a huge weight is lifted off my shoulder (Is that bad ?)but when I see that one of my favorite stories is finished on fan fiction.net such as Triangle it's kind of sad and depressing lol.

I feel the same way, Mars. For anything you put yourself into like that, it's both euphoric and depressing to finish. The reviews are nice, cause it lets you relive it awhile, but it's good that you have other fics to move on to. (Good for us, too, lol.)

I felt like that when I finished Ten Years Later. I was ready for it to be finished, but it spanned a very significant part of my life - I met some people through it who have become wonderful friends; I found out I was pregnant about a month after starting the story; I spent hours hanging out by the driveway handwriting chapters while my boys rode their bikes; again, so much time sitting in the office writing while the kids played, and I got bigger; Katie was born (slowing everything down to a crawl, lol); and by the time I finally wrapped it up, it was like I was wrapping up that whole part of my life. Kind of bittersweet - you're ready to move on to something new, but it was so much fun while it lasted, and you got to have that steady connection with your readers.
Now, put down the tissues and go write some more! ;D

I can imagine after a long one like Triangle how you would be sad to be done with it. It's a bit anti-climactic. Having only written one and two-shotters so far on ff.net I can't say I've been bummed. Happy actually. As for my originals I've finished, I usually feel pretty happy when I come to an ending just for the simple fact that I was capable of wrapping it up. Ending is the hardest thing for me to do! Looking excitedly forward to what you'll be posting next!

I dunno, I always feel pretty satisfied with myself. Perhaps a little afraid I won't do so well the next time, not have as much fun, etc...
But that's when the editing process comes in .
But then I only have 1 completed story on ff.net that wasn't a one shot. So yeah. I loved writing the story I ended and even moved onto a sequel and a parody from it, but the story itself needed to be put down. It was a great ride, though. Most of it was written in my old bedroom before the flood on my fluffy chocolate brown carpet or in front of the fireplace. You gotta treasure the moments since I won't ever be writing anything on that carpet or in front of that fire again. Makes that story unique.
Like Liz said, they encompass so much of your lives and when they're done they mark your history and your moments. It's like a little death that you'll remember fondly rather than mourning.
Blame coffee if that made no sense at all...

A part of me feels lost. Like 'Oh boy, now what shall I do?', another part feels sad, like 'Oh no, it's all over.' And another part feels like 'Phew, that's done and dusted.' lol. Jeez, it's like split personalities.

-is sad- I just finished typing the last chapter of my first Fic--- Chapter 32. I've had so much fun with this story, I'm going to miss it something fierce. -thinks of making coffee- But I am putting together another story in my little notebook right now, so the wild ride will begin again for me quite soon.

I felt like that when I came to the end of my first fic, and that was only 13 chapters. I still felt like - but then what happened next? (it was kind of open ended).

I really wish I could have an opinion on this category.

You know, I forget my opinion, which isn't hard with all this mush chatter. You two mushers know who you are. Back on topic *tries to look stern and shake a finger*.
*snickers at three year old Barbie voices* I'm sorry, it's still funny Laura.
Speaking of on topic, I wonder if this is why there are so many one shots. I mean, they're easy to finish. Huh. I think up weird stuff when I'm supposed to be packing...

Hum. When I finished Unplanned Journey, I was like "Yes! Finally!", but it was a bit of a let-down even so, because there wasn't that constant quiet push to get another chapter out. Since then I haven't really been able to get anywhere near as close to finishing a fic as I have with that one story. Alas
