Is it any good? I'll get to see it today but for some reason I can't picture Matt Dillon as Tex. What did you think of the movie?

I think Jim Metzler was a really good 'adult' figure. Especially since he's even younger than Darry was in the Outsiders. He pulled it off well. The movie itself was really good. I'm feeling a viewing coming on!

Tex, the movie as a whole, is a very fun flick. I enjoyed the whole thing immensely, and Matt does an excellent job of portraying him. Matt is a character actor, so he does a good job with pretty much anything, and given that he played three major characters of SE Hinton, he did a phenominal job keeping them all very unique.
When I watch Tex, I hardly ever think of Dally. He's just Tex. To a T.

My favourite is when he's in the car with the hitchhiker, and he's all deliriously unaware of the gun, then he turns, looks at it and does this freaking fantastic double take that I just love. Haha, if I remember correctly (it's been a few years), he's sporting that happy-go-lucky-life-is-great look. His double take is classic.

I might just need to dig up my copy now. I'm in the need for a Tex fix. Haven't had one of those in a few years.
Maybe I'll just pull out the book. Gotta love a good "Don't make me tie you up and throw you in back." scene from Mason. Lol.

The thing that had me shocked/amused was when Tex showed up rather smelling of horse, and he says "Well, I'm a quarter horse," or something to that effect. Then Jamie Collins says, "Well, I know *which* part of you is a horse." (Both lines are paraphrased, mind) How something that risque got past the censors in 1982 I'll never know.

One of the funniest parts. I also like the one with Tex under the bed...funny!

I never saw the movie, but I love that part in the book, with Tex hiding out under the bed. SE has this terrific sense of humor that just brings her characters to life with all the little stuff that's so real, but so funny.

I watched the movie again this last week -- well, I got about half way through it before I fell asleep (I'm a student, give me a break), but from what I did manage to see, the first thing that struck me was the music. It's almost Outsiders-esque, as per the original score. It wasn't done by Carmine Coppola, but I still thought it was interesting. I loved it. I'm a sucker for those scores.
Another thing I noticed was that they bumped everyone's age up a year. I probably knew that a few years back, but I'd forgotten since it had been so long. I knew all the actors looked far too old to play 12, 14/15, and 17 year olds, but that's just a movie for you. But in the movie Tex tells the fortune teller that he'll be turning 16 (instead of 15) and Mace tells Cole that he's 18 going on 19, instead of 17 going on 18. And there's NO way Jamie was anywhere near 12, haha. But, like I said, for a movie it works.
I was rereading the book a week or so ago and it struck me that no one ever called Social workers on Mace and Tex -- not the school or Johnny's family. No one. That also struck me kinda funny, but the in the movie Cole makes a comment to Mason that it'd be a shame if he had to call the social workers on them.
These were all just observations I made that I found interesting.
