Lets discuss this...do you find it hard to pace your story? What makes the pacing of a story too fast or too slow?
Do you think that the dramatic event/s (whatever that may be) should peak near the end of the story? Does there even need to be one?
Or is it all down to personal preference?

Well...I have done both faster and slower-paced stories. Like mars, every chapter should have a point for being there, I think. Although I have been known to stretch a story out for ridiculous amounts of time because I don't want it to end. I like slower-paced stories because you ease into the plot, and learn about the characters more. And yeah, I think it is partly just personal preference.

I suck at pacing, too. I tell everything. I still haven't figured out how to smoothly cut to a later scene. I can tell when it gets boring, I think, so I end up throwing in too many important events during too short a period in the story.

I find it so hard to move from one scene to the next. Slightly easier in fan fic I guess, since I can just cut to another pov or another chapter. Its hard to show time passing - I'll try to explain it in a sentence "he spent the afternoon watching tv" , and end up writing a whole scene about it, when its not even important.
