I like to take things a lot less seriously. Who cares where things are in real life? That's one of the beauties of fan fiction. As long as I give explicit instructions in my head, it's all good! So anyone looking for that factor in my stories is SOL I'm afraid.
As for where things are...well, I'll draw y'all a map sometime.

LOL! I know you're hurting mars, but it's a little funny. You can relax a bit. I doubt any of your readers are worried about the accuracy. But, if it makes you happy, keep doing it. Your attention to detail is definitely an asset to your writing, and accuracy is part of that. It adds a nice twist of reality when it takes someone an effort to walk though the city and then out to a ranch, lol. Car-jacking-Dally made some of those scenes hilarious. But, don't let the details drive you crazy, lol.  I have floor plans of some of the houses, I've created them on the Sims and created "Tulsa" on Sim city. But, as far as distances go, I tend to give everyone a car, or a ride, and then ignore it, lol. I plan when it's fun, when it's not, I lose interest. p.s. Randomly, sorry for my sudden big-mouthedness. A week sans computer will do it to you. |

What if he had a little guest house type thing? Calling it a guest house sounds really flowery and un-Buck, but like, a little cabin or something apart from the main building, where he stayed in? Not that the third floor didn't work - sounded fine to me. Just if it bothers you, that's all.

You know, I've decided that accuracy takes far too much time, so my Kudos goes out to you, Mars.
Seriously, I spent an hour looking up Hospitals in Tulsa and their back histories to make sure they were still there/were there. I was highly upset they didn't go with the normal cliche and just name one Memorial Hospital or General Hospital. It would have made things soo much easier on me!
So y'all find the only bit of realism in my stories from now on is the hospital. I retire this whole accuracy thing.

If I'm trying to write something that is a real thing I'll do a quick google search and if I can't find the information easily then I'll just make up a name. Its funny you bring up hospitals, because thats something I was trying to find out the other day and couldn't.
But I did spend a stupid amount of time looking up guns on wikipedia to try and see what sort of guns would have likely been available. It never says in the book what sort of gun Dally has does it?

I went with St. John's Medical Centre (Once just called St. John's Hospital). It's website boasted it was the first in Tulsa and I figured it would work.
No, I don't believe they ever mentioned what was in the book gun wise. It's an interesting topic since there were so many options. Good luck picking one!

Livejournal drives me effing crazy because I am techno-stupid. I have no idea how to friend a community - I just joined. BUT. I found you (matt addiction, that is) on facebook, along with the rules, so I can now start homaging properly.
I love Cats. Sadly. It's not the greatest musical of all time, and actually does sound like cats singing, sometimes. But, I don't care. It's still the greatest musical of all time. (Yes, I see the contradiction.) I loves the musicals! I'm waiting for Les Mis to come back to TO.
