I read so many stories where all of the scenes take place at the Curtises, and the whole gang is there. It gets annoying...I mean, they don't ALL live there.

Nonsense!!! They're all connected at the hip and only go to the appropriated places as a group!!! You people and you're brave new ideas!!! LOL

Well, I did send Johnny and Two-Bit to ... the library, lol. You don't see that too often.

I've used the bowling alley before. I've actually never used the Dingo, but I've used the drive-in theater.
I've also used the VA hospital, but that was for my OFC, Eleanor, so it doesn't really count, lol. :)

No way! I have an OFC named Eleanor! ...I guess it's a common name. Heh. Got excited. Sorry.
Personally, I love Tim's house. I've set more scenes there than the Curtis house. But, Tim doesn't visit "the gang" often, and wherever Timmy goes...
Definitely people should make up their own places. It's fun! But, it also probably requires some research, which I'm guessing some people don't like. I love it when there are real life places in fics (like McAlester - sorry, mars, you are forever my example on these boards). I'm planning the Oklahoma State Fair at the city racetrack in one, which was fun to research. But, I've made up some ridiculous places before, without researching, that probably wouldn't have existed. Probably irked some people, heh. Something to watch for, I guess.

Ha, that's awesome! I didn't think it would be a very common name, that's why I picked it. Plus, it's very time-appropriate.
My Eleanor is a Curtis sister, though ... *hides head*

Hey, my Eleanor goes back in time to meet the gang. From...uh, inside Dally. We all have our moments.

Most of my one shots don't really have settings. In A Letter to Johnny, it was just a letter, and in If this is Fate, it was just basically Dally's last thoughts. In To the End, people really don't know where Pony is, but I kind of imagined him in an attic in an old house...In As my Life turns Upside Down, it's mainly in the Curtises house. I'll haveto work on this. Good topic!

this is a really good topic. I know the way out and Rusty's are Soc places but In "that was then this is now "If I remember correctly didn't Bryon say that the Dingo was close down and the Greasers had to go to one of these two places.(Im sorry if I dont remember cleary lol )I was also wondering where there any Teen mixers back in the day or teen disco's since someone mentioned making places up ?. Then you can also use the river bottom im not sure if that's just for soc's use though.

I try to be a little more on the original side, and I tend to use The Ribbon - as a whole - as far as different settings go. It's so easy to build on that, create different shops and hang outs.

I did get the guys to go to an illegal street race once, so that was set, um, I think I just said "the outskirts of town". In my first fanfic Tim spent time inside so there was a few prison scenes.
Apart from that the only place I use is the Dingo or Bucks. Really it's just laziness on my part. It seems easier to use those than to try and think up new places.

I am so guilty! Half the time they're at the Curtis house, maybe because I write the Curtis brothers a lot...but that's no excuse, is it?
I think I had them at the DX a couple times too...and on a train/at the train station...oh, and I even did Two-Bit's house once, just a little bit.
But it's hard to create new settings. At least for me it is.

I'm guilty too I think. I don't do much in the Dingo. But most of my scenes do take place at Buck's, the Curtis', on the streets, or at Tim's house. Heh. *smiles sheepishly and draws a picture in the dirt*

I was wondering were there any teen disco's back then / roller rinks or malls back in the day ?

I guess the Roller rinks could be considered as a disco of sorts and isn't Ponyboy on the track team and im sure highschool track teams travel so why not send him to diffrent schools and citys for track meets.
