That's a good question. I have all these plans in my head to write things into the 80's, but I only get as far as mid 70's with the stuff I post. Actually I have something I'll never post that goes right through 1984, but hey. It gets harder as you age them, I think. You never know who's going to turn into the crotchety old man of the group.
I had to think on that one. Way to go, Mars - I think my brain broke
See ya in the funny papers!!!

I am sad to admit that I have only ever gotten as far as posting about 3 years into the future. That's not to say that I haven't got stories built upon other stories, in my head, that go as far into the future as '84 - '87 ish, but that's not exactly what you're asking about, is it? Lol.

About a year later is as far as I've written. I love the 60's setting and its fun to write. Plus I think I would find it too hard to stay in character if they weren't teenagers, it's such a big part of the story - the coming of age theme.

I went into the 90s with Family Ties. I kept checking to things like, "Wait, did people have cell phones? Wait, was e-mail common then?" LOL

I wrote (well, am writing) a sister fic (yeah, I know ... they're hated ... but I started it last year in March, and we all have to start somewhere, lol), and I've sort of been working on and off with the sequel -- it's not really a sequel, kind of like a cross between that and a companion story. I don't know. I haven't actually written anything for it for a while so I'm not sure what you'd call it.
But it takes place last year, summer actually (2006), so, yeah. That's as far into the future as I've written, lol.
But in the current one I'm writing (the sister fic) it's currently 1968 where I am, almost 1969, so that's only about two-ish years. I haven't written anywhere between 1968 and 2006 yet, but maybe eventually. :)

The farthest that I ventured into the future was actually a modern story... twice, now that I think about it. Okay, so two stories, both featuring their adult counterparts. And the second farthest, I think, was set ten years after the events of the book. Mostly, though, I like to write stories that take place in the sixties.
Cheers!

I wrote one ages ago (unfinished and terrible) set about a year in the future, involving the revival of Johnny and Dallas via a machine that only Two-Bit could control. And another iffy little one shot about Tim's reaction to the novel events - maybe a week after the book. Besides that nonsense, I've never gone past the book.

OK, will you still respect me if I tell you I'd check that out? If you made it a parody/humorous story, it could be great. I love the bit about only Two-Bit being able to control it.

I would read that.
I would read that and laugh very hard.
In fact, I would read that, laugh, and probably crack a rib or two.
Spread the humor! I love good parodies. And, of course, Two-Bit is great for a parody.
Cheers!
