I love how you guys do that, it really does make it fun to find where you've got connections. It makes the original characters feel all that more cemented to the canon world.
I haven't done it in my original stories, other than that one is a sequel. So far nothing parallels anything else, though I did consider putting a subtle comment about one of my other characters in my WIP.
As far as fanfics, The Birds and The Bees was borne out of Ten Years Later, and My Exciting Life contains the same characters as TYL, but it's more like a sequel. So no, lol, I don't do it in my fanfics either. I tend to start all over again when a new story presents itself to me. I've got Ponyboy married to about three different people so far ;D.

I haven't really crossed characters between my own stories (never really thought about doing it, but that's not to say I never will), but Rock, Tens, and I tend to borrow each others original/fanfic characters for our own stories - whether we actually make those stories public or not is another matter, lol. We give each other permission to do so. When I finally get around to finishing Against The Fates (it's nearly done... it's just kinda stuck at the moment) there are some of Tens's lesser known characters that are due to make an appearance, but not ones that anyone would probably guess.

I like how you and Artemis Rex write the same characters in different stories it's cool. I've been considering trying it for fun and mentioning a couple of the orginal characters in my Shepard fics in another story I'm writing with a cop character.

Well, I have one story where that happens. Lily Dawson was in both DV and DV2. She'll make an appearance in The River King as a hopefully frequent character. It's a way to take a minimal character to a prominent stance, I guess. So that'll kind of solve the position she was in because of the other stories and I don't have to work hard to establish a new character.
Keira, Speaking of ATF....*hint hint hint*
See ya in the funny papers!!!
