Has anyone else read The Outsiders CliffsNotes? I swear, the chick who wrote it was a DallyxCherry fan, because she kept on comparing them to Romeo and Juliet. 0.o She also said Darry and Sodapop took on the position of Mom and Dad when their parents passed away, which just made me burst out in laughter. Although, there does seem to be some truth in that...
Anyways, if anyoen wants to discuss, this is the place. x3

Dude, seriously? Wow. I would get a kick out of reading that at some point. Did you buy it or...?
I was reading the other night that The Outsiders gets a lot of papers written on it about religious symbols. I thought that was odd. I mean, the interviews I've read said there was no cognizant thought that way on Suzie's part. Strange what our subconsciousnesses will throw about when we're not paying attention.

It was hilarious! I did get a little ticked off when she kept implying Johnny was the bad guy, and Dally was the hero, 'cause even though Dally's a great character and all, its obvious Johnny was the true hero. -she just wanted Dally to be more of a Romeo. xD- I did buy it, off of Amazon. I was real lucky, because I found it for only ten dollars, when its usually around twenty. Bit of a difference there.
Religious symbols? How odd... Ugh, I so don't want to talk about anything to do with religion though. I just got done at this International Expo. thing, and I did the country of Iraq, and I don't know how many people almost started crying over the fact that only 3% of the citizens there were Christian. They also were surprised I didn't have a whole section on religion there. -but probably not too much, since I'm about the only Catholic there, so they already think I'm a heathen- I mean no offense to anyone, but I just need to vent.

Ok, so I'm having problems with my writing, so I'm going to copy a few snippets out of The Outsiders CliffsNotes that I found funny, so as to distract myself further.
Romeo&Juliet
"....If Hinton were to write a sequel useing Dally and Cherry, it would be easy to draw an analogy between them and Romeo and Juliet. Both couples are teenagers who come from different worls...."
And again;
"....Dally and Cherry are the Romeo and Juliet of this story...."
Do you want to be Mommy?
"....Darry has taken over the role of the father.... Sodapop has become the nurturing mother...."
Susie!
"....Her mother's reaction to the novel was shock; she said," Susie, where did you pick up all of this?...."
Travis Harris, A brave young girl
"....Taming the Star Runner was....about a brave young girl taming her horse...."
Phew, I'm pretty tried now, so I think I'll stop. By the way, I mean no offense towards Miss Janet Clark; my deepest graditude goes to her for sharing with me and the world, through this book, a very... different perspective of The Outsiders.

HAHA, thank you for the laugh, Sharp! About a girl taming her horse? Wow. *Snickers* ... *Laughs again*
I think we know of exactly two times that Dally and Cherry were together in any sense of the word. At the movie theater where he stalked off and when she told him to go to hell while Pony and Johnny were in Windrixville.
This is exactly why I chose never to use Cliffnotes, lol. My eleventh grade English teacher gave us Sparknotes for the Scarlett Letter, but that was because that was possibly the most difficult book we'd ever read up to that point.... and that I've still ever read... *Scratches head*

Only together twice? Don't make me laugh! What about the time Dally came up to Cherry's balcony? "Cherry, if a rose were to be called by any other name, would it not still smell as sweet?" xD Poor woman, obviously didn't realize the cruel Outsiders fans who'd be getting their hands on her CliffsNotes.
Oh, The Scarlett Letter. My sister had to read that one, and I remeber she hated it, and she's one of those deep, writer kind of people.

Dude...seriously? They let this get published?? It is like the ultimate work of accomplished fan fiction, then. Besides, if we go with what we know, Darry would have been the Mommy and Soda the Daddy

Yeah, throughout the book you could tell the lady liked the character Dally, but not so much Johnny. Like, with the one line Ponyboy said,"One died a hero, and the other a hood." She said Dally was the hero and Johnny was the hood, because Dally risked his own saftey getting them to Windrixville and stuff. They're a gang, that's what they do for each other! I love Dally, but poor Johnny....
Now that I think on it, it is kidn of like fan fiction. To think, I paid money for it when I could have read it for free on ff.net! xD

Live and learn, Sharp
Hmmm. Poor Johnny. His name is so besmirched in that book -- dying a hood? Who's that lady kidding? His death was so tragic it knots my stomach now even to think of it

I guess so. ^-^;;
I know! I mean, he is a fictional character, but the nerve that lady had to have, calling a boy who'd had zero support, love or guidance from his mother and father through out life, yet still went and saved his best friend and a bunch of kids he didn't even know, it just made me want to throw the book- except her comments on Dally and Cherry made it all worth while. x3
