Latch - lol, I already read that one. I totally didn't know it was you cause of the penname. I agree with fosterchild, you should continue. I liked the realism. (Lack of Dallas or Tim is not a problem, lol. All of them are interesting characters.)
P.S. Fosterchild - Aww, thanks, but I meant ones where the author hasn't died and brought the story with her. It has ground into, well...the ground at this point.

LOL! I just found a tiny piece of related info by accident that made me laugh. You know in the movie when Dallas, Johnny and Pony first get together and walk across this field to a drive in? In the background there's this sign that says: "The Pines Restaurant". The guy that owned that restaurant sold it way back in the fifties I guess, and opened up Tulsa's first gay bar, lol. This doesn't really mean anything, I just thought it was a funny coincidence. Small world.

I mainly just ignore stories that have a slash warning. I don't read much slash, but I do read some, especially if it's not that graphic.

I found a good one, if anyone besides me is interested. There's no sex (although it's second person Dally, so there's plenty of thoughts that are rated R). It's a one-shot focus on Johnny, in second person, but I think it gives a better picture of Dallas, sort of talking to himself. And I really like the author. Anyway. Yikes. Apparently, fics written in second person aren't allowed on ffnet. This seems very arbitrary to me... does anyone know why?

Like my little sentence of "How do you get that out of your head?" from Steve but referring to himself. Second person but not.

LOL. You're not a witch. That blunt, no-bull-shit attitude is an asset, especially when it comes to editing, lol.
Personally, I like second person in short bits, but I agree about liking it when the "you" isn't me. I'm not entirely sure what you mean, mars, but, I like it, for example, when the "you" is Dallas and you know that while reading. Like talking to yourself, yeah, or, like writing someone a letter, though not necessarily in letter form, more like a letter in thought (is that what you mean?).

Question: I'm writing something where one of the guys is talking, because there's no way I can picture him writing. I think it's in first person, cause it's him talking, but he's talking to "you" the reader, almost like you're literally there at the bar with him. Or, at least that was my intent. Does this have the same irritation effect?

Yeah...I don't really like second person. In fact, I hate it. I didn't do anything, so I hate always seeing the word you.

Re: Slash. Being as I've written some myself, I've tried to be as reasonable as I can for the sixties, but even so I probably took some liberties. Darry's a bit more pragmatic than he would probably be in canon, and Ponyboy fixes his attitude a little too quickly, although admittedly the motivator is one very angry Dallas Winston. I think if there was to be a gay character whose basis is possibly at all canonical it would have to be Ponyboy, or maybe Bryon or Mark from TWTTIN. Speaking of which, is there any TWTTIN slash? I just realized I don' t think I've seen any.
