I intend to have questions/answers to our own debated topics listed here for easy access. The list is fairly short at the moment. Including one sole component, however, it's a start! We're doing good to have as much, and I hope we can add to it as time goes on.
Question: How is Ponyboy able to attend high school, even having skipped a grade? He's only 14 after all.
Answer: S.E. Hinton has been kind enough to personally answer this question for us. A direct quote from an email she sent to Jenn of The Book and Movie site, she states: "The new one that discusses fanfiction is good, too! If you could let them know Will Rogers High school was grades 10-12 "back in the day" I think it will help with one of the problems they're having with Pony's age." Typical tenth graders are between the ages of 15 and 16, so for a 14 year old boy, one who's small for his age at that, would easily be mistaken for being far too young to attend high school.
Thanks Susie!

Question with an answer number two!
Question: Where would Darry go skiing in Oklahoma? Is there anywhere TO ski in the state?
Answer:
"Up until a few years ago, skiing meant water skiing, as there isn't any place to snow ski in Oklahoma. Not to mention snow skiing costs a lot of money. You just need a fishing boat with a motor and a cheap pair of skies to water ski. Oklahoma is full of lakes."[/i][/blockquote] Thanks again, Susie

Number Three!
Question: Why was the paragraph:
"He waved me on. "I'm just naturally a great guy." He vroomed the motor and peeled out."
taken out of later manuscripts of the book?
Answer:
(From missmouse)
I noticed it when I borrowed the book from the library. I sent her an email through her website, and got a response. My email: Mrs Hinton- I noticed that there is a line missing from some copies of the book. I'm refering to a line that happens when Ponyboy is walking home and gets picked up. "He waved me on. "I'm just naturally a great guy." He vroomed the motor and peeled out." Can you tell me why this line is missing?
Her email: Sorry, I don't have any idea why this happened. The line was in the original manuscript. Keep On Reading! S.E. Hinton[/b]
