Duane Steel (spelling is questionable right now). He did a great job. I have the Gordon version, but I heard Duane first. I guess you like what you first try.

Oh Tens, I meant the hip hop dance version of a remake....UGH!!! I'm sure that's not Duane Steel. I'll check out his version, too!

Ugg, you mean that version my roommate tortures me with? Bleh. I hated dance music, but after that, I really hate it.

I would just like to again remind everyone to check out the past winners list BEFORE nominating. You'll notice I had to remove one today because it is a past winner. So, that kind of makes me the bad guy.
So please follow the rules so I don't resort to four letter words.

Um... I'm kind of clueless and I didn't notice which story had to be removed due to ineligibility... Would it be really, really nosy of me to ask which one?

Yes, Tens, that would be the one. Horrible!!! And I just have a question about the nominations....do people actually nominate themselves? I mean I know you CAN nominate yourself but do people actually do it?

People used to nominate themselves more in the past than they do now. It still happens occassionally, and it's not frowned upon - I think more of our authors have just grown up/matured/whatever you want to call it, and would rather see their friends, or even more hopefully - their favorite authors - win, then themselves.

I was just wondering. I would feel like a dumbass nominating myself for something. LOL I'd rather nominate other peoples' works that I enjoyed. I'm excited to see who wins!!!

Yeah, like I said, there's nothing wrong with nominating yourself. We'll take all nominations as long as they apply to the category and haven't won previously in that same category. I have only noticed a pattern over the last few years, in which less and less people nominate themselves each time. Of course, not everyone who WOULD nominate someone's story, knows of the awards or whatever, and sometimes the only way someone's story will be nominated is if they do it themselves. If you think you deserve to be nominated, by all means, go ahead and nominate yourselves. The more nominations the better.

I make it a point - as a member of the staff on this project - not to nominate anyone. That and I haven't read anything good lately, so there is that. But I think it's great when you nominate your favorite stories.it really makes the author feel accomplished!
But when it gets to the point where it's stalker-like year after year by the same person nominating you for everything they can think of...
My point - choose wisely.
See ya in the funny papers!!!

I'm so sad...
Last year I had two stories nominated.
This year, nothing... Since I haven't written/updated anything since October!! Yikes!
But there are a lot of great stories up there, so I'm excited to read some of the ones I'm unfamiliar with!! Maybe I'll get my act together and have something for next year...

The less seriously everyone takes competitions, the better, in my humble opinion (not that anyone seems to be competitive at all, lol). Either have fun with them, or don't get involved, I think. I've dealt with a bunch of nasty competitions so I balked initially at getting involved in this one, heh, sorry. But, very happily, it's turning out to be a big supportive gesture, rather than a competition at all. And it's bringing fics into view that I didn't know about before, which is great, except now my summer reading list is huge, lol. With that in mind, I was wondering if the nominees page will stay up after the awards are cast, just cause there's a lot of fics to read up there, lol.

I'm so sad... Last year I had two stories nominated. This year, nothing... Didn't your stories win, thugh? I mean, previous winners aren't supposed to be nominated again (at least for the same category). But it would still be awesome if you got to work on some more stories... I'm just sayin'... Cheers!
