I think Dallas is just Dallas. I don't know how to explain.
He's always known he was doing wrong and didn't care. He's always wanted to be in trouble, because at least its some attention. He knew the difference between right and wrong and always chose wrong, just to show that he's his own person. He'd rather be miserable and hated by everyone than actually have someone say something positive about him, just to prove that he's bad.
A combination of the environment he grew up in and the person he was born to be.
