Anyone have any interesting plans for the summer?
My summer is destined to be slow with minor blips of excitement thrown in. I went to Vegas last month for work and will be going to Oklahoma for work in the next couple of weeks, for about a month. It started off as a business trip that would last a few days or a week, until we started to really think about the gargantuan mound of work to be done out there and realized it would take no less than three weeks to a month to complete it all. THEN I'll be going to Vegas again for a weekend with my brothers at the end of July and then head off to New York City for a week with some friends and will hopefully bump into a few others while there
I've had a really bad head cold this last week and have tried three different medications to cure it, none of which have worked so far. Regardless, I'm still going to my cousin's outdoor (and possibly rainy ) wedding this afternoon.

We bought passes for our community pool this year, so I'll be spending lots of time there. The boys will be getting swimming lessons every morning in July, and the pool is open until 7 every night. We just went over a little while ago for the first time for about 40 minutes before it closed. Lots of my older son's friends go there, so it should be fun. And we won't be in the house all summer watching TV and wondering what to do, lol. Other than that, I will be going to NJ for a week near the beginning of July to visit with my family. My sister is taking the week off from work so we can do some things, like go to the Jersey shore (yay!). Her sons are the same ages as mine, so they have a great time together. Then, in August, my sister and nephews will be coming to stay with us for a week. We're all on a low budget, so I think I'll be taking them to the pool a lot, haha. The kids don't really care what we do, as long as they get to hang out together for a week. My husband and I might also take the kids for a trip around Pennsylvania to see a few things and visit some of our friends at Penn State. We'll see how the gas prices are by then, lol. And near the end of August, we're planning to go down to NJ and take the train into NYC to meet up with some of my wonderful internet friends!! Keira, hope you're feeling better soon, and glad to see you're back online.

Wow! Busy summer, Liz!
I'm feel a lot better today, actually, by about 75% I'd say. I went through two other cold medications that did squat for me, before buying some Tylenol Congestion and that did the trick. Apparently Day/Nyquil only puts me to sleep and the generic kind makes me dizzy. Meh, it's all good now
Oh, btw, the wedding was very sunny and a little cold towards the end. One of the prettiest weddings I've ever been to, though.

During the first week of July, I'll be going to Vienna, Austria for a missions trip. Other than that, I don't have any plans for the summer.

From the last few days of June to the middle of July, I'm going on a trip to Canada's East Coast--probably New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI.
As for August, I may go camping on a couple of weekends, but most of the summer is just open space.

holy crap! the fact that there is a new thread made my day. ;D i guess i can add to the list of plans. well, i just got back from an Alaskan Cruise (which was amazing, btw). Alaska has to be the most beautiful place i've ever seen. on the trip i went to Canada. it was so pretty. i want to spend a week in Victoria, Canada. i loved it. my BFFL in the entire world that lives in Pittsburgh, PA is coming all the way to Tennessee to visit me for her birthday. i'm super excited. i haven't seen her in over a year. even though we talk on the phone everyday, it just not the same, ya know? i have my baby cousin visiting for the 4th of July. i'm excited. i have a summer class that i'm taking. Intro to Theatre. blah. i'm not looking forward to it at all. i'm a graphic design major, not theatre. whatever... i'm going to work it out. other than all of that i'm working and hanging with friends. but i guess that's expected. anyone else?

Well, as most summers go for me, work will be the main event. You gotta love life, huh? I'm all for going back to the barter system! What would I barter? Yeah, I get stumped there, too. Maybe writing or blood donations or something. I'll have to think on that.
Right now I am considering running off to Scotland with Shadow for a while to get away from my family, but hey. Realistically, because any time with Shadow in a foreign country would drive me insane, weekends will most likely be spent with Deuce and Mish in Red Deer or up in my old neighborhood with the boys, so that's something to break the monotony. I plan to do some vacationing in August if I don't go on this strange random trip to Scotland, so I won't be bored at least.

I've never sat down and made a list, but now that I think I about it I definitely have one
1) Scotland 2) Ireland 3) Canada 4) Bahamas 5) Mexico 6) Disney World etc...
More than likely I'll visit at least some of those in the next few years, if I'm lucky, lol. I'd love to go back to England as well.

That's one of the few places on that list I'll be visiting in the next couple of years Of course, it's far more expensive for our traveling brigade (aka, family and friends who always travel together) to fly all the way across the country to Florida to go to Disney World, when Disneyland is practically a hop and a skip away. I've been to Disneyland many, many times, and so far it has sufficed, and always will. But, Disney World won't hurt either

Yeah, it always seems like there is always some place left on one's list to visit. I have a very vague idea of where I would like to travel to in my life, but knowing me, I'll hole up in the Mountains and pretty much go nowhere. Meh:
Russia (St. Petersburg all the way to Siberia - a whole tour that could take years and I would love every moment of it) Scotland Ireland Germany Australia Texas Wyoming (and of course Paha Sapa) Iqualuit White Horse Saskatchewan
Yep. Glamorous list, huh?

Off Topic, kinda...
This 4th of July weekend was long and crazy for me. It started off with the nation's largest "freedom celebration" here in Provo, UT, with the big parade and Stadium of Fire (Miley Cyrus, anyone?)... Well, I didn't actually GO to the Stadium of Fire, considering it was nearly impossible to get tickets this year AND I wouldn't have gone even if I was able to pay for those tickets... but the fireworks afterwards are always worth staying up to watch.
I had family come in from California, some of which is still here and some of which left yesterday. The one cousin who is still here (named Skye, who is a boy, and who -- yes, most unfortunately -- I named my first Mary-Sue after) we haven't seen in five years, and given that he's only fourteen now, you might be able to guess that we haven't seen him much in the past to begin with. Anyway, he's about the neatest kid I've met. He's like a cross between me and a couple of my brothers, so he fits right in with us, lol.
We took him to the local water park, Seven Peaks, yesterday and had a blast. As a result I have the worst sunburn I can remember ever getting, lol. I forgot sunscreen, but it was about ten degrees cooler than it has been in a long time, so I thought I'd be okay. I had planned on buying some at the gift shop but never got around to it. I knew I was burning, but had no idea how bad it was until the park was about to close and it started to REALLY hurt to be in the sun. Anyway, long story short, I ended up with a mild case of Heat Stroke and have had a very trying day today because of it. Vertigo, black around the edges of my vision, and I've spent a total of two and a half hours soaking in cold water trying to suck out all the heat, lol.
How was everyone else's 4th? Or for everyone else, how was the weekend in general?
