Postcard Book for Patrick Swayze

Hi guys,

I've posted this on the Book and Movie site as well, but want to make sure it gets out to everyone:

For anyone who is feeling helpless like I am and would like to send Patrick a personal note to let him know you're thinking about him, I will put together a binder full of postcards from his Outsiders fans.

I'm going to get a PO Box next week, but for the moment, this is how it will work:

- Get a postcard (4 x 6 size if possible), preferably one that gives some indication of where you're from (state, city, or country)
- DO NOT put a stamp on it. Fill out the back with your name, where you're from, and your message to Patrick
- Send it IN AN ENVELOPE to the address I will post here next week.
- If postcards are really difficult to come by where you live, I think it would be fine to use a 4 x 6 index card or piece of cardstock, maybe with a picture attached. The idea is that the pages hold specific sized cards, and Patrick will be able to see both sides of every card. So a postcard is preferred, but if you really can't get one don't feel like you can't be included.

I'll let you know next week when I will be sending the binder to Karen (who will then send it to Patrick), but be aware that we would like to get it out as quickly as possible. If you do miss the date, however, I will continue to collect the cards, put them into the binder pages, and send them to Karen to be forwarded to Patrick.

sidenote - This wasn't something I came up with on my own. There is a fan of the Numb3rs TV series who is doing this for the 30th birthday of one of the main characters. When I first read about it over a month ago it struck me as such a fantastic idea, and it was the first thing I thought of when some of Patrick's fans started questioning what they could do to let him know they are thinking of him.

Thanks for giving us the chance to do this, Liz. It means a lot to me personally to know that there is something we can do more than just talk about it, that we can give him something that would make him smile. There's no one like his Outsiders fans to go all out

Okay, I've got an address for the postcards. Mail them to:

Again, put the postcard into an envelope to mail it.

I would like to mail them to Karen by March 31 (in three weeks), but if you can get them out as soon as possible, especially if you're mailing from overseas, I might be able to send them earlier.

Somewhere in the envelope, please include:
1. What name you would like me to use if I include a letter with the postcards.
2. What name you want me to use in a list I will post on this site so everybody knows if I got their card (it can be the same name if you like, or your screen name).

Note: I will compile the list of senders on the Outsiders Book and Movie Website forum.

Definitely, send them in one envelope.

Some ideas for places to get postcards:
- hotels
- card stores / Hallmark stores
- convenience stores
- gift shops
- possibly pharmacies (though the CVS by me didn't have them)

And if you can't find one, just use something else that fits the size.

Walmart tend to have local post cards along with other types of collectibles. Whenever I send Utah post cards to friends, that's where I get them.

Oh, and I missed this post on including things in the envelopes (heck you e-mailed, so I missed all these posts, including the new address). So You know me - Tens on everything! Sorry for the dummy moment - blame Bran.

I'd love to send something, but I'm flat out broke. Well, almost flat out broke, I'm saving seventy-four cents for a graduation rubber duckie for my sister, but other then that, I have no money.

My old friend did get me a postcard from ... some place that does rodeos, so maybe I could just use it over? xD;;

Mine is on it's way! I've had it sitting around here for the last two weeks *shakes head*. It got sent out yesterday, however. It looks like a pretty good list is building up! How exciting!

Just a reminder that it's not to late to get postcards sent in. If you can't find postcards or aren't able to get out to get one, it's fine to use:
- a photograph (have one of those already and it looks great)
- an index card (maybe with a picture or drawing on one side, as he will be able to see both sides of the cards)
- the cut-off front of a greeting card

Just be sure to use a 4 x 6 inch card (standard postcard size), though a little larger is okay if that's all you can get, as I have some pages that can handle up to 5 x 7 cards.

Also, even if you have already sent a postcard for Patrick, if you would also like to send one for his wife, Lisa, I will put those in with Patrick's. I've got a couple here for her already.

And if you don't see this post until after the end of next week, send a card anyway. I will continue to pass them on to Karen for as long as they come trickling in.
