Prolouges are very useful when needed, like if you want to tell soething about the characters past without devoting a whole section of the book to it, for example if you want ot do one chapter taht happened, say 5 years earlier and then another chapter 5 years later that that, it would be good to use a prolouge. Epilouges can be good to wrap something up.
