I'm reading Atonement at the moment by Ian McEwan and working my way through a lot of other English authors so I can name drop in my university application I'm in a bit of Jane Austen mentality at the moment too, or the Bronte sisters. Another Illusion

Oh and Des, glad you're enjoying the Harry Potter books. They definitely do become more mature as they progress, the last one in particular was pretty dark. Another Illusion

I've got Deathly Hallows sitting on my desk under a stack of papers. I finished Goblet of Fire now, and I've started OotP, so maybe I'll get to DH before it's completely covered by my in box.

I started reading the Harry Potter books at age 9. J was the only one with them in 4th grade! But, I was at, like, a 7th grade reading level. I've read them all about 6 times, except the 6th and 7th. I'm waiting for my copy of the first book to come back from my brother, Shaun, so I can start reading them again. I'm going to read Radio Flyer and Twilight soon...Hopefully I can find them at the library tomorrow. Has anybody ever seen or read Radio Flyer?

I've read Radio Flyer and seen the movie. It's a really good drama, but sad.

I've only seen the movie but man, what a great story! That little kid was a smart one. It was a real heartwrenching but feel good movie. And the narrator was excellent. I love him anyway! He's one of my favorite actors. I just don't want to spoil it if anyone else hasn't seen it.

So, its been a while since I have been on here (thanks to school..and life...) But, I here I am once again.
Anyway, I know this thread is a little dead, but I just thought that I would tell you what i have been reading. Usually I dont have time to read at all, or get online or anything, but things have slowed down a bit lately, and I injured my back a few weeks back and was bound to the bed for a week - so here goes.
You may kill me for saying this - but IF you are a romance fan, the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer is really good. Its a bit cliche at times, but a fun capturing read. The humor in it is great (in my opinion), and I personally loved the voice and characters. Anyway, if you want to know and dont already (its HUGE here, everyone on campus knows what the story is) the story is about a girl who moves and falls in love with a vampire. They get themselves into a lot of trouble, etc, etc. But the romance is sweet and the book has enough suspense to keep me reading.
Anyway, its off to bed with me. Oh, and great thread, Im always looking for books to keep me going.

The Twilight series really is great... I started reading the first book when it was an Advanced Reader's Copy, so I got a head start before everyone, then my dad got me a copy of New Moon and I never read it until this Spring when my study period was reading Twilight. Everyone in there really loved it, and actually there was a sort of fight that broke out when one of my friends brought in the special edition of New Moon.
The third book just came out, and then I think the end of the series is the fourth book which comes out next fall.

Breaking Dawn (the fourth book) is coming out August 10, 2008. I'm counting the seconds, lol. I love those books. My employee, Michelle, and I started a Live Journal Community to discuss and review Young Adult books. Michelle is handling most of it because she reads anything and everything that is out there. Here's the link. community.livejournal.com/michelesminionz/ There's an interesting discussion about Eclipse up and we cover the really important topics (like who should play Edward in the movie, ya know - the important stuff). Also, Stephenie is re-writing Twilight from the POV of Edward. It's called Midnight Sun and she posted the first chapter on her website. www.stepheniemeyer.com/otherprojects_midnightsun.html

Just so that you know, Twilight is very hard to find in the library (at least around here). I would suggest buying it or borrowing it from a friend. At first I was afraid to go out and buy it, but I got a great deal, and Im more than happy to have it in my possesion now.
Good luck getting it sometime. Its a great read.
