That was great =) I love Jefferson Airplane, so that makes it even better! Don't worry about the singing, I could hardly hear it in the video and it didn't sound too bad to me.
I agree that it is better to teach yourself how to play guitar than to take formal lessons. My brother started playing the guitar when he was 11, and all he did was buy a couple of guitar books so he could teach himself how to play. He's 17 now, the only lessons he's ever had were guitar classes at school, and he's the most amazing guitar player I know (I'm not saying that out of bias either, I go to an arts school, and I know a LOT of great players). So, as long as you keep at it you'll just keep getting better and better =)
And you're SO lucky that you can pull off those mod bangs! I can't get them since I have curly hair, and I can't be bothered to straighten it all the time, and bangs make me look like I'm 3 years old. I've just stuck with the whole long, natural hippie hair. It's the easiest to manage =P
Lastly, since this is getting a lot longer than I intended it to be, I LOVE your avatar of The Who! I saw them last September and they were absolutely AMAZING! The only show that I've ever seen that was better then them was The Rolling Stones. And, for some reason, Keith Moon really reminds me of Two-Bit...

The only show that I've ever seen that was better then them was The Rolling Stones. And, for some reason, Keith Moon really reminds me of Two-Bit... Smile! Bambola Thank you! :) Yeah, I love Jefferson Airplane, too. They're one of my all-time favorites. And it seems most people who watched it couldn't hear the singing very well, which is a good thing for me, lol. That's how I feel about my friend Jake, that he's one of the best guitar players I know. I think teaching yourself really pays off. And with guitar lessons, it's not like you're actually learning anything except the basics. And whatever they do teach you they basically drill into you. I think playing guitar is a lot like writing, in some cases -- you just have to let it flow. :) Thanks! I used to have really long hair, too -- I believe the longest it reached was waist-length, in eighth grade, lol. But see, I have really thick hair, so it's really hard to manage because there's not a lot you can do with it -- it's not really willing to cooperate, most of the time, ha. So that's the main reason I had mine cut. Plus, as you can imagine, with hair that long, it took forever and a day to dry after my showers. o.O I'm growing it out again but I don't want it quite that long. I think what I'm going to do is stick with a few layers and get it kind of angled all the way around so it appears a little thinner. And I'll keep the bangs, too, of course. I love them. :) Thanks, again! Lol. And ... I'm officially jealous. You saw The Who?! I wish I didn't find out so late that they were touring last fall ... I so would have wanted to go if they came to Chicago. I'm sure they're not quite the same without Keith Moon and John Entwistle, though. Still, seeing them in concert would just be ... wow. The only real concert I've ever been to was Paul McCartney (in fact it'll be two years exactly on October 19th!) -- not that I'm complaining, of course, but it would be awesome to see some other people, too. We watched The Rolling Stones when they played on the Super Bowl halftime show, I forget when, I want to say two years ago but maybe it was three. Idk. But Mick Jagger still has so much energy ... and he's like, what, sixty-seven? He has to be on speed, lol. ;) And I totally love the ironic parallel between Keith Moon and Ringo Starr: they're both drummers, and their last names are Moon and Starr! I just think that's so cool, lol. Peace, Queen Jane P.S. I can totally see why Keith Moon would remind you of Two-Bit. He was called "Moon the Loon" for a reason. ;) (And they just so happen to have the same first name, lol.)

DUDE! Seriously that was awesome! I haven't heard guitar playing in so long, so I'm soaking it up! I would love to see/hear Blackbird! So get on it! .
But seriously. You got that down in like 5 hours. Here's the time to throw modesty out the window and gloat like no freaking tomorrow!
My brother Jhon plays - anything he picks up for ten minutes, the lucky bastard - but I never got around to learning. I played my flute, got frustrated as all get out at the damn thing and said via con dios to music. But you're making me want to learn again!
Ok, love the song, loved the bedspread, love the courage. Keep it up!

Thank you! :)
Something's up with our camera -- it won't charge, for some ridiculous reason -- otherwise I would record "Blackbird." And I learned two other songs this weekend that I want to record too, but, alas, I can't ... and they're good songs, too. They were really fun to play. >.<
Aw, I'm glad to be of some encouragement! It's really a lot of fun to play an instrument, especially one you really enjoy. Like I used to play the piano, and could never really get into it, until I picked up a guitar, lol. So, you should definitely learn again. :)
Could you see the bedspread from where I was sitting? Lol. I think that might have just been the pillowcase -- the green and white thing, I mean. I didn't think the bedspread was visible. If it was ... it's tie-dye, but I've got like three completely different blankets over it so nothing matches except the pillowcases and the sheets, lol. Not to mention my bed frame is in the garage, so it's just a mattress on the floor ... my room is totally hippie, let me tell you. :)
Peace, Queen Jane

Okay. Queen Jane's camera = fixed. Randomly and miraculously. Actually, it wasn't the camera, it was the charger ...
Anyway, I've recorded three songs already, including "Blackbird" (!) and as soon as my brother David gets back from Portillo's with my dad, we're going to duet on "You're Gonna Lose that Girl," and THEN ... I will post the videos. :)
Hopefully this will all occur before Boston Legal comes on in forty minutes! o.O

Okay, my camera's fixed, so that means I was able to record more videos, which I did. Four, to be exact. I guess I was just in the guitar-playing mood tonight. So I hope you guys don't mind if I post four this time. :) And I'm still really self-conscious about my singing but I think it's better in these than it was in the last one, because I seriously cannot sing "Somebody to Love," the pitch is just too high. Anyway, here is the first one. It's "You're Gonna Miss Me" by The 13th Floor Elevators. I don't know if any of you have heard of them; they're a pretty obscure psychedelic band, but they're awesome. And I definitely recommend checking out the original version of this song. :) s24.photobucket.com/albums/c40/lifeonthemurderscene15/?action=view¤t=PicsandVideos1104.flvThe second one is "New York Mining Disaster 1941" by The Bee Gees. And that's pre-disco Bee Gees, btw, lol. In fact if I remember correctly I think this one was recorded originally in 1965 or so. I would recommend it too, it's really a great song. :) s24.photobucket.com/albums/c40/lifeonthemurderscene15/?action=view¤t=PicsandVideos1105.flv(Let me know if this one actually played. It may have uploaded incorrectly; it only played about one second here so I'm thinking it's either that or something with my computer.) And of course, the third is "Blackbird" by The Beatles. I just learned this a week ago so I'm still a little rusty, and that's why I didn't sing. That one's hard to sing along with when you're finger-picking, especially when you've just learned it. But I think I've come pretty far. :) s24.photobucket.com/albums/c40/lifeonthemurderscene15/?action=view¤t=PicsandVideos1106.flv(This one may not have uploaded correctly, either; let me know because I might have to upload this and "New York Mining ... " again.) And last but certainly not least is my duet with my brother David. I played and we both sang "You're Gonna Lose that Girl" by The Beatles. Granted the first-ish minute is just us laughing hysterically ... and you'll see why, David is such a goofball. I love him. Oh, and that random blue light you might see on the left side is my TV, lol. It does that if it's on and the DVD player is off, which it was. I was just too lazy to turn the TV set off too. :p s24.photobucket.com/albums/c40/lifeonthemurderscene15/?action=view¤t=PicsandVideos1107.flvHehe, I think that last one's my favorite. ;) Peace, Queen Jane

I love all of them! Honestly, you're amazing. 13th floor elevators...man, you don't hear them much. I liked the rendition on that.
I didn't know the second one because I hate the Bee Gees, but hey! I like the repetitive song repeat that was typical of the 60's and 70's. And it was while you were singing that one that it hit me that I could see you on a street corner in the 60's with your guitar. You have the voice of the times.
Black bird was fantastic, but I think your duet David trumped it. Man, that was not only nice to hear but funny as hell. Make sure you tell him I appreciated his participation. You two look like you have fun together.
Anyways, I have to get going or I am going to be late for Professor Jeopardy's class - which would be bad before I figured out he was a nice guy, but still not willing to chance it.
Oh, and it was pillowcase! I get my words mixed up big time when there isn't a cup of coffee attached to my left hand.
Great job, again!

QJ and David Rock!!!
Those were awesome, thanks so much for sharing! Great job with the guitar, because once again I'm inspired. If only I didn't have to convince the little one that we don't really need to go outside and play right now...

Thank you! And yeah, The 13th Floor Elevators are really pretty obscure. I love them, though. I think they're great. I'm not really a fan of The Bee Gees either. In fact that's about the only song I actually like, lol. I kinda sorta like "Gotta Get a Message to You" but not really. And their disco stuff is just ... it's catchy, but it's not my favorite. My mom likes it, though. But she's a child of the Seventies, so ... of course she would. :p And, the voice of the times, really? Ha, I'm so flattered. That's such a compliment to me, lol. Thank you. :) Yeah, my brother and I do have a lot of fun together. I asked him to record with me last night and at first he didn't want to, lol. And then he went into the basement and his away message came up saying, "Beatles song with my sister brb," and I was like, Yay! Lol. He's awesome. Ooh, and the pillowcase ... it goes with the sheets, lol. I'm not extremely fond of the pattern but they're flannel, so they're warm and comfy as hell. :D Peace, Queen Jane

Playing guitar is so much fun, really. And for me it's kind of become like a mindless thing, too -- like if you really just need to get your mind off of something and relax a little. Playing my guitar and writing are definitely my stress-relievers, so ... yeah, definitely try it. :D Peace, Queen Jane
