Oh, Rob Rusler's so good... He'd make a better Dally though, in my opinion. Too explosive and irresponsible for Tim in my opinion.
Hahaha, yes!! You saw the fishing trip one!! So far (I haven't seen them all), that's my fav episode cause it's just hilarious. Mars, remember when I was shocked about Tim's, erm, "romantic" history cause he seemed so young? I take it back, ALL BACK.
A lot of the material seems to be stolen from the book and expanded, which is really kinda weird cause it's after the book. The pilot wigged me out a little... it was a good start for anyone who hadn't seen the movie or read the book, but after being so immersed I thought it was too much like the opening of the movie. There's the occasional after-school special type feeling to some of the episodes. But, they always end up a little quirky - not as obvious happy endings.

Ha - rules...That's funny. As long as no one swears outside the rumble section we really don't enforce these things you call 'rules'....Well, at least I think I'm funny!
Good topic. Just got out of The Dingo and thought that we should cumulate something about this in a different section. Yet again, Mars is on task!
Tim good with kids? I definitely need to see that baby episode now...
See ya in the funny papers!!!

I've only seen the first few episodes and so far, I don't like the Scout plot. It seems too Mary-Sueish for me. Misunderstood, tough greaser girl with 'cool' nickname befriends gang.
I liked Darry in this better than the movie. Boyd Kestner was great.
Tim, although it was nice to see more of him he was too nice, lol. I found it strange that he knew how to handle a baby.
Pet Peeve: Curly, Angela and Two-Bit's sis, not seen or even mentioned.

Scout had the potential to be really annoying for me, but they backed off with her pretty quickly, lol, so my irritation never developed. Pony does seem younger in the TV series to me, but he also seems more of a regular guy, lol. He was such a little dreamer, and it seems like he grew into a real teen in the TV series, like the guys in S.E.'s other books, lol. Not just the girls but...you know.
I could see Tim with a magic baby touch - it's a fairly arbitrary gift sometimes, lol, and if he has strong, steady hands, or his voice is soothing or something that would work for me. But, I can't see him bragging about it, lol, or having the real know how - I can only see him having a sort of clueless talent, lol, for comedic effect, like the TV show did at first. Stopping crying and stuff like that. Coming in and knowing how to burp a baby with absolutely no explanation was a little weird though.

Tim with the baby was pretty funny. I guess they tried to go for the 'bad boy with a soft heart' thing with his character, which is cool but not how I picture Tim myself. I wish they had made him more of a hood instead of reforming him lol. Also Ponyboy quits smoking in the series which is sort of funny, I guess the producers don't want to be seen as a bad influence on teenagers or something lol.
Ah I love the tv series really what can I say! But is it just me or is Soda in the series pretty annoying? At first I was set to hate Scout but I ended up liking her character, the fact she didn't have a romance with Ponboy and was just a friend probably helped.

Yep he did seem to have a big chip on his shoulder, which although understandable for someone in his circumstances did not actually fit his character as he's described in the book.

Plain and straight forward - I only love the TV series because it's The Outsiders. If it was not The Outsiders, I wouldn't watch it, lol. It is very endearing though, when you know who and HOW the characters are supposed to be.
While watching it with Rock, we laugh and say how it's poorly written fanfiction brought to life. Admittantly, I've only seen half of the series so far - left the second disc of three in California (whoops!) but luckily I have it on my laptop, just have to watch it in pieces when I can get around to it.
As a general rule, it has it's only special little reservation in me, because - as I said before - it IS The Outsiders. But everyone is a bit OC-ish, especially Soda, Tim, and Buck. I like their version of Tim, but he's not OUR Tim. Buck is cool, but he is DEFINITELY NOT Buck Merrill from the book - and Soda... they butchered the poor boy. It almost makes me ill to think of the TV Soda.
I did like Darry in the TV series much better than in the movie, however. I love Patrick Swayze - but I think he's what confuses a lot of fangirls - especially the fanfiction fan girls, because he's portrayed as being SO MUCH older than the rest, that people write him as being this "old man", as opposed to a young guy. Boyd Kesner is my new love *swoon*. Well, almost. Lol.

I agree actually Keira, if it wasn't The Outsiders and I didn't already love the characters, I probably wouldn't find it any more or less interesting than any other tv series.
I really like Darry in the series, I guess I only have a problem with how Soda was written. The episode on racism really did it for me, I thought it was way off base.

He has an identical twin brother named Bryan, too. I remember reading that a long time ago on IMDB. It's too bad Boyd hasn't made it big yet - he's certainly not lacking in the work department, but I definitely think he has the potential to make it big.

Identical twin brother...that takes me back. We (Rock, Keira and I) learned this a couple years ago and Bryan was our inspiration for Bran - Darry's annoyingly hilarious twin brother. So to say the TV had no impact on our writing would be a lie. Call one of us on it in the future!

That's really funny, Mars. I've never particularly liked the name myself, but what a cute episode that was. Tim and that baby... Dunno who in their right mind though it was a good idea to let him hold one of those...
